New coaches, so far the same conservative offense that can't throw the ball downfield. Not sure at this point if JT can throw the ball 30 yds.

Pathetic so far.

Ohio State returns a Junior High Offense. Very good running back with Dobbins. JT throws are short which just brings up the defense.

Defense is playing alright just the DB's getting a workout against the tall WR's. Playing a lot of plays. Condition will really show at the end of the game. Sure good that the temp is not hot or the players would be dragging and cramping up.

Well Bucks finally woke up and my point spread was on the nose. Just didn't think it would be that hard early on.

I was scared that first half, that Campbell touchdown really got them going.

My observations on the 49-21 victory:

1.) the defensive adjustments in the second half denied the Hoosiers jump ball completions.

2.) The Buckeye offensive line play dominated in the second half allowing State to run or pass at will.

3.) Special team play and kicking was very solid.

4.) Ohio State had few penalties.

5.) Isiah Prince appeared not to have any pass protection breakdowns.

6.) JK Dobbins is for real. Mike Weber may now be second string.

A 28 point win is big, but the win was strangely unsatisfying. Hints of the 31-0 loss to Clemson lingered.

The revamped offense is not going to show instant results but showed promise of what it could be. The defense could become wicked. Simply put, OSU football is a work in progress.

I MUST ADMIT THE 1ST HALF OF THE BUCKEYE GAME LAST NIGHT I WAS NERVOUS AS A PREGNANT NUN AT MIDNIGHT MASS. THAT'S SOME KINDA NERVOUS, BUT THEN HALFTIME ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE AND WE WENT TO A GROUND AND POUND GAME WITH OUR SASQUATCIAN LINEMAN AND DOMINATED THE GAME FROM THERE. ------------------- NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR TOM ALLEN AND HIS HOOSIERS THEY BROUGHT IT ALL NIGHT AND LIT UP OUR YOUNG'STERS IN THE SECONDARY. THE DOBBINS KID IS AWESOME.

our secondary got throttled, and they had those nba centers for recievers. Indiana is going to win a lot of games. and they have a very potent offense. the buckeyes secondary has lost so many all stars to the nfl the last few years. and I think our young'uns were kinda foo--ler shocked the first half last night with them Zulu tall recievers.and the qb has a wonderful touch on the ball.buckeye defense looked awesome otherwise and the second half stepped it up dramatically. I'd like to have been a fly on the wall in the buckeye locker room. urban looked like he was ready to kersplode and blow a head gasket.

I just saw your post omega and I think it is a great observation. if our o line gets into you. it's gonna be a long day for d lines. and it appears we have a fantastic duo in weber n dobbins. and barrett seemed to not have the happy feet as much, yet was effective when he had to bail or keep on a read option.

Omega made some great points. Just to add a few:

1.) Indiana is a very solid football team. Lagow played flawlessly the first half and made some unbelievable throws. Many could not be defended. Cobbs is a freak talent at WR. Their coaching staff put together a terrific gameplan for OSU, specifically the quick throws that immobilized OSU's defensive line. Nothing you can do up front when the QB gets the ball out of his hands in 2 seconds on every play.

2.) Our D line is absolutely dominant. Outside of Penn State, I dont see a team on the schedule that will be able to run the ball against that defensive front. Looking forward to Oklahoma and Baker Mayfield, he is a QB that likes to move around in the pocket and doesnt get the ball out very fast. I think the D line has a field day on him.

3.) Dbacks- losing 3 first rounders back there hurts. Although they are talented, they are inexperienced and we dont have the taller, lanky, long armed Dbs that can really lock down receivers. They are a work in progress and showed a lot of grit in that second half vs Indiana.

4.) Dobbins- real deal. Dont expect Weber to be watching this year though. They will both get ample carries.

5.) Barrett- Still has some of the same old tendencies that have plagued him, but most of his shorter passes hit the WR in stride rather than behind them and let the WR's keep stride and stretch the defense after the catch.

Overall I think we were partially looking forward to OK while this was the biggest game of the year for Indiana. They have solely prepared for OSU all off season while we have mixed it up between OK and Indiana.

The OSU coaching staff probably went a little more conservative last night in the first half, didnt want to run JT if they didnt need to and that led to a sluggish start.

At the end of the day its a 28 point blowout and its time to get ready for the Sooners.

I agree on the DB"s. Some of the throws in the first half they were right there but it was in the right spot.

The offense hopefully didn't want to show everything before the Oklahoma game. All the talk about how JT had improved passing the ball didn't show up. Take away the long runs after the catch his passing yards would be different. Would like to see Webber and Dobbins in the backfield together as the season goes on. Good first game against a good team.
