Davis LEVEL 5 Upset Special: Why Texas Tech will beat TCU

Post by The Gloaming »

The history between Texas Tech and Texas Christian, in state rivals, goes back hundreds of years, October 30, 1926 to be exact. The series was dominated early on by the Horned Froggies, with TCU taking 13 of the first 20 meetings. Which is why TCU is a Davis Level 5 Upset Special.

The DLUS is a system that Davis uses to predict upsets in all sports. It reads as follow
Level 1- No Chance
Level 2- There’s a chance
Level 3- It could happen but it might not
Level 4- Guaranteed chance of upset
Level 5- Upset Guaranteed

Davis doesn’t go level 5 often but recently he correctly picked Ole Miss over Alabama last week, Oregon over Florida State last year and Virginia Tech over ohio state last year. Since the system was developed in 2007, on level 5’s, Davis has gone 23-1 with the one loss being the Davis prediction of an osu upset of Florida in the BCS Championship game. All the more shocking is his record since that game, 21-0. What a shocking system indeed.

TCU has been our favorite to win the Championship both in 2014 and now in 2015 but the Froggies issues on defense are becoming too much to ignore. With 5 starters on defense either hurt or suspended, Gary Patterson is going to rely heavily on the offense behind (soon to be) Heisman QB Treyvon Boykin. Hes thrown for over 1000 yards almost, a lot of touchdowns, and did we mention he could run with the speed and agility of a running back as talented as Alabama’s Derrick Henry or LSU’s Jason Fournette. His abilities alone could be enough for the Horned Frogs to win this game and we expect them to….but Davis does not.

Texas A&M is coming off of a blow out win over Arkansas and Bret “Big” Bielema. Granted, that win doesn’t impress much after the Razorbacks lost to the all might MAC Attack Toledo Running Rockets. But what Texas Tech does arguably as well as any team in the country is pass the football. Patrick Mahoneys arm is as good as any other quarterback in the country…and he’s just a sophomore. He was 26 for 30 last week with a big touchdown. Sources close to the program suggest Mahoney is a Heisman sleeper pick for next year. The defense isn’t bad, giving up only 20,24, and 45 in the first 3 games. Look for them to try and stop Boykin and star Wide Receiving Kolby Listenbee. Listenbee, trust us, they’re listening and the Raiders will key in on Listenbee.

It’s hard to argue against the DLUS. 23-1 is almost 100% but it’s not. Having said that, Texas Tech pulls an osu vs Florida and loses big to a hungry TCU squad 54-31.

1) The Bucks were favored in 2006, so picking the favorite isn't an upset pick.

What is this, the Lord of the rings? LOL. Ohio State may have been favored by Columbus radio stations and Buckeye fans, But there wasn't person outside of Ohio that thought the buckeyes were going to beat Florida.23-1 is pretty remarkable

The closing Vegas line for the game between OSU & Florida was OSU -7
Ohio State had already beaten the #2 ranked team in the polls twice that year, and Urban had to campaign to get UF into the game over Michigan.

OSU was A full touchdown favorite to win the National Title, which is a huge number.

Thanks for playing, try again soon.

If you need more proof, here is a link to every BCS title game Vegas line.

Lol one overrated team beat another. I remember the calls for a rematch and thepeople saying no. Florida beat Osu bad, I think most people saw that coming. Just another Osu team/ conference benefitting from terrible scheduling. We beat TEXAS!!! Lol, Texas was exposed that season as a fraud just like osu.
Regardless, Davis picked the Buckeyes to upset Florida, he clearly saw the writing on the wall. Urban was 2 steps ahead of dinosaur Jim but he bought the Osu hype thinking they cover. lol almost a perfect record

Picking OSU was not an upset.
OSU was favored, and going into the game everyone was on the OSU will win side.
Post game, and hindsight are different stories.

I agree Dubs OSU was the consensus favorite that year.I still remember ESPN yacking after the game about how they couldn't believe mighty OSU could be so thoroughly dominated by a team that had one loss and so many close games throughout the year and pretty sure all the game day guys picked them. That game really lit the fire for all this SEC supremacy talk.
