The Louisville Sports Commission announced that Paul Hornung has passed away at the age of 84 after a battle with dementia. Vince Lombardi was hard on everyone, but he loved Paul Hornung. Lombardi called Hornung "the best all-around back" ever to play football.

Former Ohio State basketball player Kaleb Wesson was not selected in last nights NBA Draft. The former Buckeye entered the 2020 NBA Draft with high hopes of being selected, but ultimately was passed up by all 30 teams in the 2-round Draft. Wesson was not selected beside the fact that he was one of the best three-point shooters of anyone in the pre-draft workouts. He should be able to go overseas and make some pretty good money. I'm not one bit surprised that he was not drafted, even though he's a big guy (6'9"), and did work very hard to shed a lot of weight and did get a little quicker, he doesn't play like a big man. He does shoot the 3 pretty well for his size, but I'm not sure that he really likes the physical play under the basket that is needed for someone his size.

Five-Star Quarterback Quinn Ewers, the No-2 overall player and the No-1 Quarterback in the 2022 Class, has committed to Ohio State shortly after his decommitment from University of Texas.

Just a few more details on the commitment of Five-Star QB Quinn Ewers. He is 6'3", 195 lb, and is out of Southlake Carrol High School, in Southlake, Texas. As to the ( QBU Title ) Quarterback University Title, this gives the Buckeyes a second consecutive season with a Five-Star QB, and a third straight year with a commitment from a Top-50 overall player and a player ranked in the Top Three at QB. Ewers has some strong connections to the Buckeye State, as his family owns property in the Columbus area. Urban's Meyer's son-in-law, Cory Dennis is also a strong factor here, as he has built a strong relationship with Ewers and his family in his first season as Ohio States quarterbacks coach.

Miller, Stroud, and Ewers in a couple of seasons, all 5 star QBs, will be an embarrassment of riches but will also have the potential to disrupt team chemistry. Only one of the three will ever see the field as a starter.

Former Ohio State teammates Jae'Sean Tate and Keita Bates=Diop will now both be playing for NBA teams in Texas. According to multiple reports Tate has agreed to a three-year contract with the Houston Rockets. Bates-Diop, meanwhile has reportedly agreed to a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs, which means he can spend up to 45 days on the Spurs regular-season roster, but will otherwise play for the Spurs G league affiliate (Austin Spurs) unless he is signed to a guaranteed contract. Tate, who played for the Buckeyes from 2014-2018, has not played in any NBA games but was a first-team All-NBL selection last year while playing for the Sydney Kings in Australia. Bates-Diop, who also played for the Buckeyes from 2014-2018, was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and appeared in 67 games over two seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets, with whom he played in just seven games.

Been waiting all my life for a Buckeye Qb to be productive on the NFL stage. Haven't seen one since Tom Matte (58-60) and he was a RB once he got to the Colts. Tomczak was a good backup. (Schlichter was a mess, Burrow is a LSU Tiger since he never got his chance here and Haskins will be a afterthought here in a couple more years and there's a reason Fields couldn't start in the SEC). Keep'em coming, maybe one day.

Tom Matte? You must be my age! Seriously, out side of Bob Grease, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Russell Wilson, the Big 10 and particularly OSU has produced few if any quality NFL quarterbacks in the last 60 years.

Just a short time ago the Buckeyes got a commitment from Five-Star wide receiver Caleb Burton for the Class of 2022. He is out of Del Valle High School in Del Valle, Texas. He is rated the No-15 overall player and the N0-2 receiver in the Class of 2022. He was being recruited by all the major college's, a list that included Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida, LSU, USC, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, Georgia and Auburn just to name a few.

A few more details about the commitment of Caleb Burton. He's 6'1", 170lb, and apparently he has been on the Buckeyes radar as the Top receiver target in their 2022 Class. Burton said his impression of the Buckeyes wide receiver coach Brian Hartline were very strong right from the start. That's two 5-Star commitments from the Lone Star State in just the past few days.

It was confirmed today by Head coach John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens that former Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins had tested positive for Covid-19. Running back Mark Ingram also tested positive along with Dobbins. Defensive tackle Brandon Williams will also go on the reserve/ Covid-19 list as a close contact. After the Ravens had closed their facility earlier on Monday due to multiple positive Covid-19 cases in the organization, they were somehow able to reopen later on Monday.

It sounds like possibly that Ohio State vs Northwestern is a Big Ten Championship that could all but be written in stone as of right now. Wisconsin vs Minnesota has been canceled for this coming weekend, and with three cancellations on the Badgers schedule, they would no longer be eligible for the Big Ten Championship Game, even though it would have been hard for them to overtake Northwestern in the first place.

Just a little follow up to Nick Saban testing positive for Covid-19, apparently Athletic Director Greg Byrnes has also tested positive as well.
Nick Saban won't be able to coach remotely on Saturday night against Georgia. He will not have that ability against the No-3 ranked Bulldogs, as NCAA rules prevent a coach from being able to communicate with his staff and players while watching the game from another location. Saban said if you're the head coach, there ought to be a better way to do it, I'm not exactly sure what that might be, but there needs to be a better way. I'm not quite sure why the NCAA doesn't just up and change the rules for this weekend, after all Nick Saban doesn't like it, and that should be enough reason right there.
The Alabama football team will have their head coach when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night. Saban was cleared to return to the field after he tested negative for coronavirus for the third consecutive day. Team Physician Dr.Jimmy Robinson said that Saban was medically cleared to safely return to activity effective immediately after Saban tested negative on Saturday morning.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban has tested positive for Covid-19 again. Alabama said Wednesday that Saban was experiencing mild symtoms. Saban had tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the teams game against Georgia back in October, but was asymptomatic and tested negative in follow-up tests. That positive test was then deemed to be a false positive. Saban will be unavailable to coach against Auburn on Saturday after the positive test.

One week after going undrafted, former Buckeye Kaleb Wesson has reportedly landed a training camp contract with the Golden State Warriors. While that doesn't guarantee that Wesson will make the Warriors roster, it will at least give him an opportunity to practice with an NBA team during the preseason and show what he can do, potentially giving him an opportunity to earn a full contract. Wesson, who turned 21 years old this past summer, still might face an uphill battle to make an NBA roster this season, but he'll look to prove wrong all the teams who passed on him.

Ohio State Basketball Great Jimmy Jackson will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Jackson, who scored 1,785 points in just three seasons at Ohio State from 1989-92, is set to be inducted into the National Collegiate Hall of Fame as part of it's Class of 2021. The Toledo native was a State Champion at Macomber High School and earned McDonald's All American honors as a senior. As a freshman at Ohio State during the 1989-90 season, Jackson averaged 16.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, and helped the Buckeyes get back to the NCAA tournament after a two-year absence. Jackson earned first-team All-American honors, was the Big Ten Player of the Year, and led the Buckeyes to the Big Ten Championship in both his sophomore and junior seasons. He was also the UPI National Player of the Year in his junior year, when he averaged 22.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4-assists per game and also led the Buckeyes to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. He led Ohio State in scoring in all three of his seasons as a Buckeye and started 93 consecutive games. He was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the No-4 overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft. Jackson went on to play in the NBA for 14 seasons.

Former Buckeye Evan Turner is reportedly moving from playing in the NBA to coaching in the NBA. The reports are that the former Buckeye star is finalizing a deal to become an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics. Drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers out of Ohio State, Turner previously played for the Celtics from 2014-16 in-between stints with the Indiana Pacers and the Portland Trail Blazers over his NBA career as a whole, averaging 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
