Post by Brutus8907 »

as a buckeye fan, i think this represents very well how I (and probably most buckeye fans) feel after these past two years.

Buckeye fans need to stand proud and know that to play the title game is much better than to watch from home. tOSU has had chances to win titles in back to back seasons and have improved in those contests which is a testemant to coaching. '07's team got outcoached and embarrassed and wasn't ready to play nor did they have a gameplan to win and made no adjustments. '08's team played a better team and played much much better especially at the QB position, also came out with a better gameplan and drive to win. I think to look at this year as a must win year is silly b/c the JT recruiting classes have been exceptional and the future is bright in Cols. tOSU will lose alot after next year but football in Cols will continue and "we" will pack the house on Saturday's. This years team will play the best team we have played in several years in week 2 and our coaches will be severely challenged. A "L" can be a killer but we have to be realistic and see the task at hand. On the other hand a win would be the biggest win our program has seen in a long time. The Urban Meyer show may have been scarey but Pete Carrol is simply Pete Carrol and has more talent than did Florida. Let's remember the Earl Bruce days of 3 & 4 losses and be proud of the run we are on but not put all our eggs in one basket so to speak for this year b/c even better days may be ahaed of us.

In week two, we play Ohio University.

USC is week 3. Oh, and that USC team is not a better team than
we played in the Florida game.

Sorry about the typo on the week 2/3 thing. The verdict is still out on the USC/FL comparison, only time will tell. That Florida team was not as dominant as we allowed them to look. Well coached but talent wise we have played better teams. Thing that scares me is that USC will have more pototypical players and run a more pro-like system especially on "d" and those blitz packages, if not picked up quickly, can create turnovers and mistakes. If we attempt to run 40 yard pass routes only mixed with the quick slant route stuff we are predictable and will be playing into their hands when they stack 8 tight to stop the run. Florida was good but we made them look like Tommy Fraziers' Huskers did in the late nineties and they were not even close to being that good.

Seattle and Austin are only about 96 miles away.
