The only reason to follow the Reds this season is to follow the development and hopefully improvement of Lodolo, Greene, and Ashcraft. They are not the second coming of Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz, but should offer Reds fans at least MLB caliber starting pitching over the next three or four years.

At this stage, Lodolo is the most complete pitcher. Greene is the most talented thrower, and Ashcraft seems to be the blue collar hardworking guy.

The bullpen was spot on today. I liked the way Buck Farmer looked today. Jonathan India looks ready for a big year. Kevin Newman was a nice bright spot.

Graham Ashcraft goes seven strong and picks up the win.

The Bullpen two scoreless innings.

TJ Friedl and Jason Vosler go yard

Andrew McCutchen looks good in the Pittsburgh jersey.

3-1 Reds

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! Reds are swinging the bat well and pitching has been solid. Interested to see how the arms of Conner Overton and Luis Cessa can hold up for us today and tomorrow.

I was at the game Saturday and it was a cold one! Constant win coming in to make it real chilly but the victory was worth it! I went back and looked, since the beginning of the 2019 season, when I go to Reds games they are 17-8! They better hook me up with some season tickets to see if they can keep up that pace ;)

After the first weekend of the season, the rules changes are having an effect:

Through 35 total games over three days, the games are faster, more batted balls are turning into hits and stolen bases are up. *The average game time was 2 hours 41 minutes — 23 minutes faster than the average nine-inning game last season. Batters are hitting .310 on balls in play, up from .292 last season. Stolen base attempts have risen a bit (to 1.6 per game from 1.3), but the success rate has jumped to 87.5 percent from 74.

Reds move to 3-1 after defeating the Cubbies 7-6 last night! Was down 3-0 in the first inning and immediately answered and battled all night. Bullpen looked great and got us out of jams. Jason Vosler is the shining star early this year as he comes in last night for an injured Jose Barrero and smacks a go ahead 3 run homer!

Reds (3-1) will host the Cubs (1-3) tonight at 6:40 PM
Pitching matchup will be Luis Cessa vs Hunter Wesneski

The offense was very good in the win yesterday.
Spencer Steer is becoming my new fav Red. He seems to be on the verge of doing big things.
Tyler Stephenson needs as many breaks from playing catcher as he can get. DH was a nice slot for him yesterday.
Jason Vosler is making it hard on the Reds as far as keeping him in the majors once Votto comes back.

Yeah, the Reds bullpen finally lived up to their reputation, giving up 10 runs in relief.

Phils 5 Reds 2

Greene not particularly sharp through his 4 2/3 innings but deserved a better fate as the Cincy bullpen failed again.
