Do not look, but the Reds are now tied with Cubs for 4th place. They are only 3.5 games back of the third place Pirates. Enjoy it for a day.

Reds have been playing some good baseball. Castillo will likely be dealt soon. He’s making it look like the Reds may get compensated quite well. He’s pitching at a high level, definitely the best starter on the market. Reds asking price should be high. 3 game series on the road against the dirty birds before hitting the all star break.

Lots of good things being said about the Reds 18th overall draft pick from last night, Cam Collier out of Chipola College (FL). Son of Lou Collier who played in the league for 8 years.

Cam is only 17, getting his GED and joined a Junior College for draft eligibility. Scouts say he has a good command of the strike zone with lots of contact and can offer more power in the years to come. With a plus rated arm, they also believe he has the means to stick it out at 3B. Lots of baseball IQ to add to it!

Cam was also projected by many as a top-10 pick so the Reds being able to grab him at 18 could very well be one of the best picks in the first night of the draft.

If Castillo, Mahle, and possibly Drury, Farmer, Pham, and Senzel get traded for prospects, expect the Reds to plummet towards 100+ losses in their remaining 71 games.

Aside from Stephenson, no one would be left of major league caliber. India is hitting .230 and Votto is batting at a robust .216. Their team ERA without Castillo and Mahle is over 6.00.

The best out come for the Reds would be getting quality prospects to stock their pitiful farm system and build towards contending in 2025. (and pray they don't ruin Greene's and Lodolo's arms over the last 2 months).

Too bad about Stephenson. Took a heck of a shot with the ball tipped off the bat to the right collar bone. Broke it I think I heard them say.

Yeah it's bad news. Sad. Collar bones take some delicate healing time. Wishing him well.

Reds still might get out last place? Seen some where they won 9 out of last 13 games ?

They have a good chance to jump out of last and even potentially to 3rd! Just depends on how the trade deadline goes and what team wants to show up..

We still have 6 vs the Marlins, 3 with the Nationals AND Rockies, and 12 with our divisional rivals Cubs and 10 vs the Pirates. If we can find a way to win roughly 20/34 of those games or more, I like our chances to get out of 5th place. But, I guess we'll see :D
