Pens tied the Flyers last year for the Atlantic division title with 106 points but bested their win total 49 to 47.

Pens looking good in preseason with a 3-0 record via wins over the Red Wings 3-2, Blackhawks and the Wild 4-1. Save some of that for the regular season cause it is a long, hard grind in the NHL.

Pens will open the season on October 6th with a western road trip vs Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. This will be their only matchups vs these 3 teams for the season.

Still now word on when or if Crosby returns to the ice but I still look for the Pens to get into the playoffs and get a top 4 seed in the Eastern conference. The Caps are the favorites to win the East in my opinion.

Crosby has 8 points in 4 games...plus he has racked up several penalty minutes for throwing elbows and fists...looks like he has decided that if the career is going to end, it is going to end on his terms.

Pens are 3-0-1 since Sid's return.

Not surprising as every team is bringing their A game since Crosby's return. You can't play every regular season game as a game 7 of the playoffs.

Caps have a new coach. I hope Ovechkin is happy . Game should have a playoff feel and could get chippy early just like the Rangers game did. 14 minutes worth of penalties handed out in the first 2 1/2 minutes of play.
