If You Were Dusty Baker....

Post by MightyOaksFan »

What would your lineup card look like? With all of the young players where would you put them and who would you sit?

1. Jerry Hairston Jr. (listed as a infielder but can play outfield) CF
2. Jeff Keppinger SS
3. Brandon Phillips 2b
4. Joey Votto 1b
5. Edwin Encarnacion 3b
6. Ken Griffey Jr. RF
7. Paul Bako C
8. Ryan Freel LF (I would trade him as well as Dunn to get a better LF and hitter)

Pitchers
Aaron Harang
Johnny Cueto
Edinson Volquez
Homer Bailey
Bronson Arroyo

Setup
Affeldt
Lincoln
Weathers

Closer
Cordero

I would trade Dunn and Freel. Bring up Bruce and Bailey. If Bruce is brought up he would be in center and hopefully Hairston could play Left. If Bruce came up I would put him batting 7th and move Bako down a spot.

I personally like the batting order that produces the most runs and WINS us the most ball games.

If I were Dusty Baker, I'd thank the Reds for giving a coach that
has never accomplished anything despite having some
very talented teams a chance to coach again.

Then I'd resign and restart my secondary carer as a baseball analyst for ESPN.

I lost all respect for Baker after he made the statement "WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT BETTER THAN THEY CAN" He is nothing but another racist living in the past in my eyes.

Start by telling the players that if you don't show some patience at the plate, you can sit beside me in the dugout. Maybe someone can explain to me why you want to hack at the first pitch?

The batting out of order incident is just embarrassing for Cincinnati. The excuse was that the bench coach, who would normally make sure that doesn't happen, was serving as the 3rd base coach while Mark Berry (the regualr 3rd base coach), was taking caring of his sick father. No matter what, mental mistakes like that just shouldn't happen.

And what did Dunn have today, a sacrifice fly and 3 strikeouts. He's really struggling so far this season.

If I was Dusty Baker, I think this is my last job in the Majors.

I would demand that the team divvy up for a couple more quality starters, then I would go away quietly after they fire me for it.

When does AGonz get back? If he will be back somewhat soon, I would start him at SS. Then, I would trade both Griffey and Dunn. Keppinger would play LF. Bruce would play CF. Freel and Hopper would play LF.

I would also bring up Bailey and put Belisle in the bullpen. Though, much of this would be a GM's decision to make.

Edit: Meant to say Free/Hopper in RF. Though, they could play LF with Kepp in RF. He has experience at both corner OF spots.

Gonzo won't be back for awhile. X-rays still indicate a fracture in the knee cap. He will be out for a few more weeks.

Keppinger will be out for a while to.
I do think that they will be making a move soon though.
Seatle would love to have Griff back, a lot of teams would like to have Freel, and Patterson could be on the block to. I would not be suprised if they try to trade Hopper to.
So keep yours ears peeled cause I think a trade could happen within the next 2 weeks.
