Who in the world is McDonald?

Harang gave up one run in five innings and threw 114 pitches.

Would have liked to saw him go more than 5, but not a bad outing.

I really can't say anything bad about the Reds' performance yesterday. They were up against one of the best pitchers in baseball and the Mets are picked to win the World Series by a lot of people. Cincy really needs a clean-up hitter, IMO. The communication between McDonald, Hairston, and the infield was terrible. Bruce kept the score from being worse than it was with the awesome throw to the plate. Does anyone know Harang's record on opening day? It can't be anything special.

GO REDS!

Reds need to get the bats out. Need more hits . You cant win without runs . I think there better at pitching, but need some hitters.

I agree the communication between the fielders was horrible. That is something you learn in little league.

Who will be on the hill for the Mets tonight? We will have Volquez, right?

Why is McDonald up here. Gomes hasn't reported to Louisville yet. He should be up here instead of playing a 10 year minor leaguer that can't hit. Hell... we've already got Taveras. BTW.... Gonzales will be out by May1st and then we 'll really be in it.

I say leave Dickerson out there. Taveras should be back soon.

What is this about Gomes not showing up?

Hopefully we can get some quality innings out of Arroyo, because we are gonna need it.

The bats were out last night early on, but the blown double play by Gonzo in the 5th opened the flood gates. Volquez got cute with the off-speed stuff and got into trouble while throwing way too many pitches.
Shouldn't have to score more than 5 runs to win a ball game.

You are right fuzz, Volquez would get ahead in the count and rather than get the batter out, he threw more pitches than he needed trying to get a strikeout. All this talk about our pitching staff this year, I just hope they can perform to at least half of the expectations.

The Reds get their first win of the season, 8-6, to avoid the sweep. Votto gets a 3-run homer for the second straight day. Arroyo was less-than-stellar, but gets the win, I believe. Still - shouldn't have to score more than 5 runs to win a baseball game. 3 games and no starting pitcher makes it more than 5 innings for the reds. Not good.

GO REDS!!!!
