Somebody has to eat up innings while the young kids are getting ready. You don't want them getting their brains beat in and then losing all of their confidence completely (John Lamb, for example)

Plus, you can swing a trade if they pitch well and pick up even more young talent (Jason Hammel or Scott Feldman, for example)

Plus, it's always nice to get some veteran leadership in the clubhouse.

I knew you'd be all over that news lol

I'm in a weird boat where I do sorta feel bad for Homer at this point. I mean, yeah he's getting paid an absurd amount of money to not really perform at all, but it's still something he's worked hard to get back from and he hasn't been able to at all.

Reds sign Desmond Jennings to a minor league deal. Could see a platoon in RF with Schebler. Good low risk deal for the Reds.

The 30 year old is coming off of 2 injury plagued seasons after he was pretty solid for the 4 seasons before that. Getting off the turf at the Trop will surely help his legs too.

The Browns and the Reds are in completely different situations. The Reds have the prospects and some really good players, there have just been a few lean years after that stretch of several consecutive years in the playoffs. These two franchises are not in the same situation.
