81 in 2024 may be a reasonable expectation if their current rebuild philosophy works. But after that some of their young potential stars will be arbitration eligible and the Reds FO will likely trade them for more prospects instead of paying them.
A continual low budget rebuild.

Then to add insult to injury, at a fan luncheon, Phil Castellini blames the Reds woes on everybody but the Reds ownership:

I quit listening to what the clown has to say. I'm a fan of Nick Krall and how we're sticking to our rebuild as I've mentioned before - however within the next year or so we need to open our pocketbook up some to bring in a key piece or two to compete. With the ownership though, I won't hold my breath lol

As we get closer to spring training, the Reds start their annual dumpster diving for fun and profit.

Players signed to minor league contracts with invites to spring training with the big club with hopes of making the opening day roster:

Chad Pinder

Jason Vosler

In fairness to the Reds front office, they signed Brandon Drury in 2022 and Tyler Naquin in 2021 as minor leaguers with spring training invites. The Reds got decent production from the players and were able to flip them for prospects at last years trade deadline. Hopefully these deals will pan out for both the players and team.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training in one week. Hope and optimism abound in the Cactus and Grapefruit league training facilities. Maybe some of it will rub off on the Reds?

In the news:

Reds sign Chad Pinder, Nick Martini, Nick Plummer, and Jason Vosler to minor league contract with spring training invites.

Only spring training! Not worried about the scores so much as seeing what guys will be serviceable for us. Someone I've been impressed with thus far has been our new addition in Will Benson CF. He has made some nice hustle and diving plays in the outfield and is 3/4 hitting wise with 3 stolen bases! If he can continue, he will be nice to have in the lineup.

Noelvi Marte SS (Acquired from SEA in the Castillo trade) is 2/5 with solid power and speed as well as Christian Encarnacion-Strand (Also acquired via SEA) starting 2/3 with a lot of pop in his bat. I look for him to take over a lot of 1st base duty once Joey Votto eventually retires.

Reds are slated to take on the Dodgers today at 3:05 with Nick Lodolo making his Spring Training debut this season

If some of the Reds dumpster diving signees perform at their career average and if Votto, Stephenson , and India can stay healthy, the Reds should be improved in hitting, fielding, and base running.

The catch 22 will be pitching. Reds team ERA of 4.86 was the third worse in MLB last season and the team did little during the off-season to improve their staff. As good as Ashcraft, Lodolo, and Greene may be, it will be tough for the Reds to improve much.

The Reds and A's tied 14-14 yesterday - yes you read that correctly lol! Thanks to a 10 run bottom of the 8th inning for the Reds

Elly De La Cruz remains hitless this spring in 7 AB
Noelvi Marte goes 2-4 yesterday bringing his average up to .444

Big highlight from yesterday goes to someone I mentioned in a previous post and my guess for our future 1st baseman, Christian Encarnacion-Strand. Went 2-3 yesterday off the bench with an RBI single AND a Grand Slam bringing his preseason average to .571 (!) Finding positives for our future!

Reds are off today and play tomorrow vs the White Sox at 3:05 pm
