Reds have an off day today before a weekend home series vs the White Sox who are underachieving to say the least. Would like to claim 2/3 for a series win!

My number one issue with the Reds currently is 1a. and 1b.
1a. We desperately need to replace Luis Cessa in the starting rotation. I basically chalk our game up as a loss when he is pitching because opposing teams absolutely tee off on him. Not saying he's a bad pitcher, just not a starter and needs to be in the bullpen.
1b. We need some POP in this offense. Not many guys at all who are power hitters. I know we don't always need Home Runs but one here and there never hurt ;) I would absolutely love to see the Reds call up Matt Mclain and Christian Encarnacion-Strand for this home series to make their debut because they are killing it at AAA and would provide a spark for the big club

Yes he did and he for the most part was out of the bullpen with us to begin with until later last season when he needed to make some spot starts and then stayed there. I wish we went out and tried to grab some other guys to eat innings. We have a couple guys coming through the ranks who can be very good just not quite ready yet

Here's a few updates for you on some Reds prospects making their way up through the ranks..

Last night Matt Mclain (#5 Prospect) went 4-5 and hit for the cycle with 4 RBI. He is now slashing .324/.450/1.088 through 29 games totaling 8 HR, 28 RBI, 8 SB and 16 XBH. I look for him to be called up very, very soon.

Christian Encarnacion Strand (#6 Prospect) for AAA hit 3 HR and 5 RBI in yesterday's game bringing his season totals over 10 games to: .432/.468/1.423 with 7 HR, 14 RBI, 9 XBH. He is another name I wouldn't be surprised to hear called up soon.

Elly De La Cruz (#1 Prospect) is off to a semi slow start, hitting .232/.259/.669 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 2 SB and 6 XBH. He could use some more time in the minors I believe.

Andrew Abbott (#10 Prospect) has been lights out on the mound. Combining his starts in between AA and AAA he has thrown 25.2 innings, 1.40 ERA, and an amazing 51/8 K/BB ratio!! Crazy good stats.

In AA, Noelvi Marte (#2 Prospect) added 2 more HR to his campaign last night bringing his totals to .250/.337/.757 with 3 HR, 9 RBI, 5 SB and 8 XBH

Great things are coming in the Reds Farm System!!

Reds have their top 3 pitchers throw this past weekend against a weaker White Sox team and they all 3 didn't pitch well as we drop 2/3 games.. certainly wasn't ideal. Off day today followed by a homestand vs the Mets where we'll have to face an angry Max Scherzer coming off his 10 game suspension, Justin Verlander and solid rookie Kodai Senga. Reds need to be firing on all cylinders

On another note, I was at the game Saturday moving my win streak up to 8 games! Maybe I just need season tickets

Reds (16-21 4th NL Central) win the series 2-1 vs the Mets at home and head down south for the weekend as they take on the Miami Marlins (19-19 2nd NL East)

Reds are throwing Ashcraft (2-1 3.82 ERA) facing against Marlins rookie making his MLB Debut Eury Perez. Perez is the Marlins #1 prospect standing at a whopping 6'8 220 lbs. His fastball sits around 95-97 MPH and peaks up to 100. The Marlins say he poises nice control and maturity on the mound for only being 20 years old and also has a change-up, slider and curveball to round out his repertoire. Should be a fun matchup to watch!
