Preliminary numbers as follows:
Oak Hill 152
Waverly 213
West 161
Wheelersburg 204
Minford 156
Valley 138
Northwest 155

2022-23 Division Breakdowns
DIV 269-202
DV 201-154
DVI 153-113

Of course the numbers can be appealed, and the divisional breakdowns can shift a few each way to even up the total number in each division, so this is all subject to change.

What are the odds Waverly and Wheelersburg go to DIV?
Could one or more of Oak Hill, Minford, or Northwest Drop to DVI?
How would Wheelersburg and Waverly feel about playing in a league of DVI teams?
Word on the street is that Burg will be D4. Still working with OHSAA on the numbers but unlikely they stay D5.

D4 or D5 doesn’t really matter. Wheelersburg will play hard to the last whistle against whoever they are matched up with in the playoffs.

True, Burg plays hard no matter what. However getting stuck in the D4 region out of Cincy (Wyoming, Clinton Massie…) will suck.

Yes it will be challenging. But as a life long Pirate, I am sure they will be up for it.

There’s 3 guarantees in life:
Taxes, Death, and Wheelersburg having a winning record and competing if not winning the SOC2 in Football.

36 out of the last 52 SOC Championships have went to Wheelersburg. Nearly 70% in over a 50 year period. Their records against Conference foes goes as such:

Minford: 63-6
Northwest: 49-8
Oak Hill: 18-9-1
Portsmouth West: 47-27-2
Valley: 42-5
Waverly: 50-27

Total: 269-82-3
70.6%

The new Minford Coach seems to be bringing some good experience with his assistants in Gifford as Oline and Wilcoxin as OC.

Valley gets to be biggest school in DVI. They're also about one transfer from DV and trending up.
West goes to DVI, will they stay or is a class just small?
Minford is trending toward DVI soon.

What impact will this have on playoff points and seeding for Wheelersburg and Waverly? If in the next year or two half the league is DVI does that force SOC to expand?

West probably stays D6 going forward from what I hear. There looks to be a slight drop in talent on the horizon from what I saw from their junior high last season, but they always going to be competitive regardless of numbers. Valley has a couple of big classes coming through and a few more transfers than usual, but would bet they will stay D6 as well.

Oak Hill, Minford, and Northwest all would have been D6 before their CB numbers were added in. If those schools "manage" their open enrollment/transfers better, they could drop down to D6 at the next count as well.

Don't know how all that affects SOC expansion, but can't imagine Burg and Waverly want to be playing mostly D6 conference games going forward.*
