This one should draw a packed house at Hannibal.

I think the Noles are much improved and will give River a good game this year. But River's QB is the best player on the field and a difference maker. Close game early and River pulls away by 14. Go Noles!

You’re putting way to much stock in a win over Bridgeport. River nearly beat a legit program week one. This will be a 4 td win for the Pilots.

i agree they’re likely way better. I respect that! I’m old enough to remember Woodsfield being the premier small school program in the valley. Weird seeing them have more kids playing basketball than football!

Really it’s that close? Because there were several decades i the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s where River was 2-3 times larger than the old Woodsfield HS .

MC only has to keep working and it will be our turn again in the series. Flannery will retire someday just lik Coach C. did,

And when that happens the transition will not be as perfect as you think.

Always loved playing Caldwell. We were the Reds and Yinz were the Skins. Actually Caldwell v Woodsfield dates back to the 1910’s and maybe earlier. The series has gone back and forth and lately it’s been all Caldwell . It’s gone back and forth and I think this year you got us again. But MC has some talent coming up so we’ll see how it goes in the next few years

Best of luck to the Skins in the meantime

Didn’t say anything like that. Just stating facts. Monroe Central has struggled for about a decade now. They haven’t beaten Barnesville since 2017. Small schools go in peaks and valleys. There was a point in time where Monroe Central got 50+ kids out for football. Now they’re typically between 20-30 kids. Makes a huge difference in your level of competitiveness. I’m not a fan of either school just stating the tangible and factual information. I’m sure that Monroe Central will put together a good team again. I can see them finishing 4-6 or maybe even 5-5 this year.

My apologies.
River leads the all time series 25-20-2 vs Monroe Central/Woodsfield/Skyvue/Bethel Township/Lewisville/Calais.
Sound better?

You sure do know your all time series. I see you posting in other threads. AmandaCC and Unioto? lol. You got to be the only person who knows that. Thank God for fourseasonsfootball.com or you have one hell of a spreadsheet. :)

It's always been debatable whether to include WHS in MC's records. I think we do it because Skyvue didn't have football.

Although Mitch Hannahs would have made an awesome triple option QB. Skyvue would have had some great teams in the 80's if they would have gotten 30+ kids out for football.

That would’ve been a FAST football team. Might be the best or one of the better athletic classes to come out of Monroe County history. You had a great coach in Huffman, Hannahs, Hilverding, etc. I’d make an argument about the 1957 Bethel Township Blackhawks, too. Richard Potts coaching, Bode, Miller, etc.

For Monroe Central, they just need to get some wins under their belt and the kids will start coming out again. Coach Circosta always scheduled up, too. I bet that he’d have another 30 wins if he didn’t beef up his schedule in the second half of his career (Monroe Central). Nearly a 1/3 of his wins are also via shutout. You always knew that going against his teams were going to be dogfights. Jay was one of the classiest people and coaches I’ve ever seen.
