For those who know Pendleton know that his family has money and he is also a business owner, So money won’t be the issue, The only money issue I see would be for his assistant coaches and the type of players he would want to get in there. I know there are certain types of “scholarships” for kids who are interested in ND, Just don’t know how many?

If he is interested and ND has a “whatever you need to succeed” approach, Then it very well could happen. If it were to happen I think it’s bad for area schools as you would assume the talent would be plucked. It will be interesting to see what happens. If they don’t get him I think it will be someone in house already.
Vouchers is what you are referring to, and that going to be a huge issue for Pendleton at Notre Dame (if he is the guy). Not sure what high schools the vouchers apply to currently, but basically if your high school is in academic distress and you live in that district, your kid can go to Notre Dame for free. Those school districts will be the recruiting grounds for ND's next coach. Tuition at ND going to be a nonstarter for most kids in this area, so unless the kid qualifies for a voucher, it going to be a lot harder to get kids into ND than it was at Ironton.

Anybody from ND know what local school districts still qualify for the ND voucher program?*
The only HS that falls into the program currently is Portsmouth. Clay’s middle school is also on the list.

It’s the EdChoice Expansion, where income is a qualifier, that has kept ND’s numbers afloat.
formerfcfan: thanks for the input on the subject. So does EdChoice Expansion apply to any lower-income student from any school district? Or still just for the school districts in academic distress?*

Income vouchers apply to any school district ---- county wide.

The 2022-23 limits would be higher. Basically, based on your household size you can make what is under the 250% column and qualify and receive an income voucher. Subsequent years for renewal you do not need to be under the 250% of poverty income level -- you can make more money but the voucher may be reduced.

This is open county wide. There are a lot of Scioto County families that will meet these limits.

2021-2022 Income Eligibility Requirements for EdChoice-Expansion
Number in Household Gross Annual Amount

# in household (250%) (300%) (400%)
1 $32,200 $38,640 $51,520
2 $43,550 $52,260 $69,680
3 $54,900 $65,880 $87,840
4 $66,250 $79,500 $106,000
5 $77,600 $93,120 $124,160
6 $88,950 $106,740 $142,320
7 $100,300 $120,360 $160,480
8 $111,650 $133,980 $178,640

For each additional
person add: $11,350 $13,620 $18,160

All families applying for an EdChoice-Expansion scholarship must have their income verified by the
EdChoice Office. When applying for an EdChoice-Expansion scholarship for the first time, the total
household gross income must be at or below 250% of the federal poverty guidelines (see chart above). All new
EdChoice-Expansion applicants must have a household gross income of 250% or lower to be awarded a
scholarship.

Renewals --- Families renewing their child’s EdChoice-Expansion Scholarship for the next school year will be
awarded an amount based on where their family’s household gross income falls within the federal poverty
guidelines:
 0% - 250% = full scholarship = maximum award of $5,500 K-8, $7,500 9-12
 251% - 300% = 75% of the scholarship = maximum award of $4,125 K-8, $5,625 9-12
 301% - 400% = 50% of the scholarship = maximum award of $2,750 K-8, $3,750 9-12
 Over 400% = cannot renew the scholarship
Only scholarship families with a household gross income of 200% or lower qualify for low-income status. This
means that the private school cannot charge these families for any tuition that is not covered by the
scholarship.
Scholarship families with a household gross income of 201% or higher are responsible for paying any tuition
difference not covered by the scholarship.

EdChoice Expansion (yes, proper noun) is the income-based voucher program.

EdChoice is the original voucher program that is related to public school performance.

Send them to Belpre high school. They still need a coach.

Check Notre Dame Athletics FB page for application info. It states that resumes are accepted through February 10th.

I think ND will regret on getting rid of Bob Ashley. No idea where these parents/kids think they can get a better option because the option they want is not coming. Good Luck

How is the search going? Could someone list a few candidates and what qualities they have that make them good coaches?

Belpre just hired a new coach. Maybe ND could hire the coach that Belpre had last year.
