Columbus St. Charles 20 - 21 Logan 2022, and Previews

Post by Logangrad »

We are rounding the last turn and headed for home on the regular season it seems and we have some dandy's this week in SE Ohio!
GOTW!!
6-0 Unioto at 6-0 Zane Trace!! Huge Game Huge atmosphere tonight! This one will be amazing!! Tonight will be a classic Fall Friday night crowd and atmosphere and just an old school feel for an old school matchup.

Alexander (4-2) found out that they still have some work to do and they face RV (2-4) this week at home. The Spartans are still in the TVC Ohio hunt but need a small miracle.
NY (5-1) has Wellston (0-6) this week and then a big game with Alex and Vinton County (4-2) the following week.
Eastern (4-2) will host Trimble (1-5) this week and if the Eagles can get a win and South Gallia (4-2) can get past a tough Waterford (3-3) it sets up the potential TVC Hocking title game next week in Reedsville!

Gallia Academy (6-0) has a huge game Friday night at Coal Grove (5-1) whos coming off a devastating one point loss to Portsmouth last week and will be angry for the Devils!

Chillicothe (5-1) needs a win this week vs Miami Trace (2-4) at home and a HUUUUUGE game with WCH (5-1) next week looms if the Lions get past McClain (4-2) this week as well.

For the Logan Chieftains (2-4) they travel north to Columbus St Charles (3-3)! The Cardinals pose a huge OL and a solid running attack. The line is anchored by senior tackle Ryan Carretta, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound Pittsburgh recruit. Other starters are senior tackle Austin Fraley (6-1, 200), senior guards Gabe Epler (6-0, 240) and Jordan Thompson (6-0, 240) and junior center Abrem Igwebuike (6-0, 225).

The blueprint for success has been a trio of running backs picking up chunks of yards behind a veteran offensive line.
Senior Pete DeSocio and classmate Mason O‘Reilly with junior Aidan Fox are grinding up yards at 8.3 yards per carry for O’Reilly, 7.0 for DeSocio and 6.6 for Fox.
The Cardinals are working to get back on track after being blown out in their last two games, falling to Washington Court House 50-21 on Sept. 16 before losing their CCL opener Sept. 23 to Watterson 42-0.
To do so, St. Charles will need to establish its running game. The Cardinals had 655 rushing yards in their previous two games but only 89 against the Eagles. Pete DeSocio rushed for 68 yards on 18 carries. Quarterback Ryan Mooney was 9-for-16 passing for 80 yards.
Logan has won two of its last three, including a 35-13 victory over 0-6 Athens on Sept. 23. The Chieftains also defeated 1-5 Vincent Warren 17-14 on Sept. 9.
The Chieftains relied on a rushing attack against Athens, rolling up 308 of their 319 total yards on the ground. Varick Fick led the way with 192 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries. Kaden Morgan added 66 yards and one score on 13 attempts, and Chris Gompf had 43 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries.

Ugly 4th and 2 play, but the defense had a huge three and out. Tick Tick Tick

Was it raining up there tonight? I swear it seemed like Logan fumbled the ball on about 5 straight plays listening to the game. Anyway, a nice win on the road. Hopefully, it will give them some much-needed confidence going forward.

Gritty, determined win.

Best win of the Eddy era (not many to choose from, sure, but it was big).

You can see what the staff want this team to look like. Blue collar. Tough. Hard nosed. They really controlled the line of scrimmage on Friday.

WAY too many mistakes. Clean those up and Logan wins this game comfortable.

Logan started the game with a few starters out. Left tackle made his first start and played every snap on offense. A few guys got dinged up during the game.

Young guys stepped up. Just a great win for the program. Go Chiefs!
