This is high school football. If you are an athlete, you better be going both ways.

Got to have two way players. Need the numbers to give them good looks. But 15-20 solid players/ pieces is more than enough to field a good football team.

It’s a catch 22. Do you play to build a great program and play more kids or play for wins and both ways.

In our area (SEO), being there are hardly any Div-1 schools, and very few Div-2 schools, I would say that 95% of the schools in SEO, probably play 75% to 80% of there kids both ways. I may be way off on this, I'm just guessing. Unless you're a Div-1 school and have an awful lot of kids on your roster, and even then, I think sometimes if you are that good of an athlete, that the coach may want you on the field.

Gallia Academy only plays 3 most of the time. No lineman going both ways unless a goal line situation. I think as the go deeper in the year you may see a couple more guys going both ways but playing this many kids early I think helps development for the long term. I have also scene Wheelersburg do this for quite a while also..... this proves small schools can do it but it’s not the norm esp in southeastern Ohio. I figure some other teams most likely do it also that I may not get a chance to watch on a regular basis....

Small schools(D-IV-D-VII) most players go both ways unless ur a coldwater, burg, Jackson, or Amanda clearcreek back in the 90’s early 2000’s, Those schools to name a few. When u have a good program as a small school you have the numbers to have players go one way. I’ve watched the burg team sub every play with 1-4 players at a time as coldwater. It’s a luxury for a head coach to have this problem. Couple games I’ve watch Burg this year they just rotate a lot don’t know about if any goes one way or not this year. A burg fans would need to let us know! I see a Jackson fan said their team goes one way except 2 but they are D-III.

Honestly for this area, probably easier to ask what schools don't have 2-way players. That list would be MUCH MUCh shorter if one existed at all.

Might read his statement again, ;) "Jackson has a lot of kids that play a good deal both ways". That is one of the bigger schools, even wheelersburg having 80 players plus have guys going both ways.

I really believe that you hit it on the head. Regardless the size of the schools in our area, I bet you won't find one school that doesn't play some kids both ways.

I seen his first post and read it wrong. Yes read it wrong must been a late night, lol. He said they play 18 players. Burg subs a lot that helps them.

Gallia I think has about 4 that play bothways although they rotate about 2 or 3 more. Hardly any of the line plays both ways
