Week 9: Ironton Fighting Tigers Host The Fairbanks Panthers

Post by kantuckyII »

Don't know much about them other than from what Ironton Football Dot Com says about them which is:
Division 5 - 132 Boys - Colors: red and blue
Head Coach - Morgan Cotter
Last years record 7 - 3 - Playoffs - Did Not Make Playoffs
Fairbanks has 5 playoff appearances
This is The First Meeting Between Ironton & Millford Center

While they're a D5 school, they are also going to be sporting a 7 - 1 record when they enter Tank Stadium this coming Friday so it's another tough game for the Tigers it would appear.

People have been asking me where Millford Center is...(Fairbanks) and last night, I have no idea why I said this but told a guy it was in West Union. I must have been out of my head for a moment. If he comes on here, I apologize to him..

Also, if any of their people wander into this site somehow, wanted to provide them a link that gives them parking info and a map, just click the billboard to get there:

Here you go kantucky, some more info about the Fairbanks Panthers after a quick Google. The roster is from MaxPreps. They also have stats for the Panthers, although I don't know about the accuracy. It looks like the Tigers should have a size advantage again in the trenches.

Looks like this team is padding their record against weak D6 teams. Ironton big again.

They've beat one team with a winning record.

Got to play whomever will play you. A lot better to beat a 7 - 1 Division 5 team and get the points than not having a game at all for the week.

Thanks for the head's up on the billboard link. I can't believe I done that too. I usually always check a link like that. I think I'm just getting old :122246 ;-) Anyway, the link to the map is now working

We beat them every year when I played at Alder. That 7-1 record is very and I do mean very deceptive. No contest. Ironton in a big blowout.

Anyone know what Heath done? Either way, I'm 'thinking' that Ironton will probably seal a first place finish in Region 15 if they can beat this team?

i town.. said a few weeks ago.

Farmsbanks is Jonathan Alder's JV team..

Old county rival from union county.. smaller d5 team.. good talent in skill positions. no depth, no size.
the have sent a few kids to D2..and D3 schools lately...

The only thing that worries me is that the star on the map is awful close to Plain City. I hope Fairbanks doesn't drink the same water as Alder.

no need to worry about the water.. Farmbanks is a good quality D5 that plays a D6 schedule.. it hurts them in a
a tuff d5 region.

Fairbanks 2010
8/27 H North Union (7-0) [5:20] L 0-26
9/3 H Southeastern Local (2-5) [6:24] W 28-0
9/10 A Triad (4-3) [5:20] W 37-34
9/17 H Riverside (2-5) [6:24] W 19-14
9/24 A Perry (1-6) [6:22] W 41-12
10/1 H Upper Scioto Valley (2-5) [6:22] W 47-21
10/9 A St Wendelin (3-3) [6:22] W 54-7
10/15 H Ridgemont (1-6) [6:22]
10/22 A Ironton (5-2) [4:15]
10/29 A Waynesfield-Goshen (4-3) [6:24]

1 7-0 1156 Richwood North Union 13.8857 30.0 96.0 100
2 5-2 369 Cincinnati Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 11.2357 19.5 84.5 100
3 6-1 1504 Cincinnati Summit Country Day 10.2220 21.5 66.5 93
4 7-0 1682 West Jefferson West Jefferson 9.5000 28.0 55.0 100
5 5-2 120 Anna Anna 8.7429 18.5 61.0 100
6 6-1 490 Lees Creek East Clinton 8.6837 26.5 48.0 98
7 4-3 394 Coldwater Coldwater 8.3286 17.0 59.0 100
8 5-2 1600 Versailles Versailles 8.3000 21.0 53.0 100
9 4-3 158 Hamilton Badin 7.9000 21.0 49.0 100
10 6-1 544 Milford Center Fairbanks 7.6591 21.5 44.5 97

They get tossed by North Union.. who's a good D5 team.. They will go 8-2 and not get a sniff of the playoffs. There are
to 3 loss teams ahead of them in a tuff region, with West Jefferson, Coldwater, Versailes, Cincy Country Day.
Now A Win against Ironton would assure the playoffs for Farmbanks, but that's unlikely.

Don't expect them to travel as well as Alder did when we ROLLED into the TANK..

Ironton 45 Farmbanks 6

Must be nice to get these Columbus area schools to travel to I-town.
How about you guys make a return trip sometime soon.
I'd like to be able to not travel 2.5 hours if I wanted to watch.

to any fairbanks folks listening. we have plenty of fine parking, dining in itown, and fine food at the stadium, easy access in and out of the stadium, plenty of seating. i know most of you will enter the far gates on the visitors side. but do yourself a favor and come early. look at our beautiful new school. and our facility. and by all means check out tiger alley. and the history on it's walls. not only is it home to the ironton fighting tigers, but is named tanks memorial stadium, after our famous pro team, we used to have. and is one of the few stadiums left in the country with a covered home side.hope you all have a safe and injury free game, and a safe trip here and back. you bring in a fine record.YTB.
