1981 Eastern Eagles

Post by Donnie Hagglethorpe »

We was number 4 in the state that year. Lets look back at the awesome team that featured some of the greatest players ever at EHS. How about Mike Bissell changing the plays when Arch would send them in! Gotta love it!

You are so transparent it isnt even funny. I never thought you of all people would make me look bad like this. All I can do is shake my head and wonder why you would do such a thing. Now meet me at the gun club buttsucker.

The team that I remember watching, as a boy, when Kyger Creek played Eastern, I think featured Dennis Eichinger and Alan Holter. If memory serves, they were almost unstoppable. I think that Holter was recruited and played a short time for Kentucky or some school in KY.

That was 10 years before the 10-0 team. Buzz Kirkhart coached that power house. Best coach Eastern ever had. That buttsucker ended up winning two state championships in his career.

My uncle Junior Hawthorne played at Kentucky. He might have been the best player to ever come out of Pomeroy HS.

I believe it would have been around 71-72. All I remember is that they left a trail of tacklers behind them alot of the time.

I remember those Eastern teams (Both Football and Basketball) and they were very talented between 70-73.
