Ironton football: winds of change

Post by BigCarlito72 »

Long time Lutz assistant Mike Burcham sr. retires @ age 68, hard to imagine the legendary Lutz continuing without him. Could this be the end of an era in Fighting Tiger football?

WOW! Two new coaches on the river for next year, Itown and Ptown.......That's a lot of speculation!! Interesting topic though.

Don't worry Paldin is coming down to run both programs. It is a done deal except he does not want to live in Southern Ohio so he is looking at places in Ky.

Is he bringing his recruiting base with him ? If he does SEO will have at least 5 football championships within the next 10 years.

i'm really proud of you fighting tigers, and if that is true about coach burcham retiring , man what a ride it's been. he was there well before i was there, i've been out of school like 32 years.what a great asset he has been to the fighting tigers.

I have also heard that this was Burchams last game. Also there is some hearsay it may as well been Lutz's final one as well. BUt you cant always go on what you hear. So we will see..

i just really hope ironton fans give the next coach a chance. the team is losing alot of seniors and next year will not be easy regardless of who is the coach.

Yea it was on facebook that this is Coach Burchams last game. He will be greatly missed. Hes one half of the dynamic duo.
At least he is going out on his own terms not any one elses.

Good luck in what ever you choose to DO Mr.Burcham Thank You for all your years of service and coaching.
Hope Ironton brings in a offensive Guru to mix in a balanced passing attack but who knows.
Ironton has always been known for their running game but time to evolve I believe to another level.
Great Season Tigers and Good Luck in the future.

Lutz and Burcham has been a great duo. Hopefully Lutz decides to stay and will make another run next season. But folks need to realize that coach cannot coach forever. I think that Mark needs to come out of the booth and maybe carry on the legacy. Mark would make a great head coach. Be nice if Coach Lutz would stay next year and Mark would come out of the box and coach next to him next season.

I would love to see Coach Lutz get his 400th Career victory before he retires though

Say it aint so Joe. I know they cant coach forever but I was really hoping they would coach for the next 7 years so my youngster could have played for them. Hopefully Lutz will not go yet. I wouldn't want to play for anyone more than Lutz and Burcham.

Would be weird for Lutz to go since he was the one who gave the ok for the turf project they are raising money for.
