Mine has to be the resurgence of the Rock Hill Program....Only dressing 22-24 kids each Friday and these kids doing what nobody outside their inner circle would have believed in July......

Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
For me, the best part was getting to see teams I have not watched play in person and hitting stadiums I have not been to before.
The best new fans I met was from Jackson and Hamilton Township.
I think the best/nicest fans I have ever been around has been those from Ironton. I put both Jackson and Hamilton Township right up there with them.
I always enjoying hitting stadiums I have not got to during my travels.
This season getting to Westfall was awesome.
Just a nice little stadium with no really out of this world things to make you say wow, but to me it was awesome.
Sticking with the only Ohio theme I also enjoyed going to Warren, where the home side is big, making watching the game very easy. They also have the biggest bag off popcorn I have ever got for just a buck.

Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
When players are targeted to be taken out discipline should be handed out by the state
The coach should not be able to say he simply took care of it himself
These are high school kids that have invested a lot of heart into their sports and to have others try to take it from them by a cheap shot should be dealt with very harshly-

Seemed like the area had a lot more solid teams this year.
Wasn't no Athens this year but that doesn't happen too often.

Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
TVC-OHIO RODEO
Coming into the Season...
Thought it would come down to Athens, Alex, Meigs and Nelsonville-York...
Came down to Alexander and Meigs in Week 10...
That's why they play the Game...
River Valley and Wellston make the League Games a lot more exciting as well...
The Takeaway...
Alexander Spartans earn their 1st TVC-OHIO Championship...
River Valley earns their 1st Trip to the OHSAA Play-Offs...
Saltzmen and his all-Junior Line break the 2,000 Rush Mark...
Meigs gives Logan and Alexander a handful...
Wellston/Athens OT/Thriller...
Nelsonville-York beats Trimble (Hocking Champs), but fails to win another game...
Next Year should be just as crazy...

I think I was surprised how well Miller did this season, that Ft. Frye went 10-0, and ....
....that Waterford beat Wahama, who beat 'AA' Ravenswood.
oh, and that Beallsville, with only 14 kids on the team, hung in there and played eventual state D7 champ Marion Local.

Rock Hill and River Valley both making the playoffs was awesome. Northwest having a solid year as well. Ironton winning the OVC their first year, and i'd dare to say there will be plenty more. The new OVC is going to be awesome. When Portsmouth gets back on track it will be even better.

Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
To me 2015 was the year of the smaller schools. I was happy Athens played 9 close games with underclassman and without its QB. Hope for a great off season and Athens back in the hunt for a tvc title

Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
I agree about hilljack's comment. probably the biggest overall was rock hill's turn around. but also river valley as well. also Portsmouth east getting in. and up here in pike county eastern had it's 1st year in football and did quite well. a big thing that surprised me was logan at 8-2 missing out.and wheelersburg handling Jackson 38-0.ironton winning 6 in a row, after an 0-4 start. there is a lot of local teams here represented in the playoffs.we'll just have to see who's still standing at week 12. but a very interesting year of football in these parts. the ovc getting 3 teams in.i'd really like to see Portsmouth and gahs back on track. personally I think the ovc has the makings of a deeper league top to bottom than the soc. and what has happened to what I think is Ohio's oldest league the seoal.kinda sad.it was once so awesome.hilljack wrote:Rock Hill and River Valley both making the playoffs was awesome. Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
Our kids have went through a lot this year.
I'm hoping a solid coaching staff will be in place next season and we can put this year behind us.

Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
My take is I need to pack more hot chocolate to take to games as the grandson has two more seasons to play, lol. Had an excellent Soph season and still its not over yet as they made the playoffs and a good chance at winning the opening game . He is going to be an All Star player and get even better. Lots to look forward to.
Have gun, will travel

Re: Your Take On The 2015 Season
One of the big takeaways for me has been the the week to week progression of the freshman QB at RH.....he really improved by leaps and bounds...it helped having the two senior backs to take the volume of carries but the QB was really able to showcase his athleticism and abilities as the season has wore on.....and he's only 14. Also the the importance of the Chesapeake sophomore wingback who came back from injury to play against Coal Grove....he definitely gives them another factor on the offense and will help tremendously this week in the payoffs. They're two future players to watch for in the future of the OVC....
