Brandon Schankweiler-Wheelersburg

Comes off the bench cold after an injury to Lang and leads the Pirates to victory in his first varsity playing time of his career. Started out a little shaky with the fumble, but then put it all together late in the game and led the Burg down the field with some very nice runs and then throws a beautiful pass to fellow Sophomore Andy Stegman for the tying TD.

I second that nomination. Heck of a job by the young back-up.

Derek Roback,
Unbelievable stats against a top quality opponent. After carrying the Tigers all night he returns the punt to seal the victory.

Patrick Angle, Logan

15 rushes, 119 yards

10 for 21 passing for 95 yards and 3 touchdowns

Plus several big stops on defense as well.

Over 200 yards of total offense that gave Logan their first win over Lancaster in 63 years.

I'll second that motion!

I will add a 4th nomination for this young man!
Rack up all the stats you want for any other player, but to come in as a "backup, for now" and to be as clutch as he was in this marquee of a game. It has to be Shank!

With what this kid did to get his team the win and as much as it pains me not to be Tartan I have to go with Derek Roback from Waverly also.

Curtis Herron - Athens - 93 Yards rushing, 1 TD ... 2 Intercetons ... It doesn't look like gaudy numbers, but most of the yrds rushing all came in the 2nd half as he was forced to play tailback with the ejection of the #1 RB at the end of the 2nd quarter. And both INT's came at crucial times in the ball game ... The kid did a great job considering he wasn't the starting RB and had to adjust on the fly. He also had a few good punt returns and was everywhere on defense, probably had 10+ tackles and maybe even a sack. Again, it doesn't compare with some of the other "numbers" other area players had, but going against a superior team and doing all the things that don't show up in the box scores would have him up their in my book.

Kyle Webb 162 rec. yards and great defense on the Hale Kid from Oak Hill. Aaron Donahoe 211 passing yards and 56 rushing yards. Both from Chesapeake.
