Ironton healthy would be a tough haul again but they have to win a game before we can talk about the chances of that happening. Minford could sneak in if they could get the SOC 1 off of that schedule. It looks like it's all up for grabs. We will all know what Burg is made of next week. When they come out of Jackson with a W, there will be no need to play the region. Just give it to them.

you might want to look at Nothwest a little closer. by the end of the year they will win 6-8 games. that's alot of L2 points for Minford. I think they win 7 games. that's 28 L2 points
Minford needs to win this weekend. Northwest may beat Itown out of the 8spot

Zane Trace and Wheelersburg should be a lock to host even if they lose one.
Watch out for Coshocton. They could surprise and get in after losing their first two games.
Harrison Central-Union Local game this week will go a long way.
I still think Ironton will get in if they go 6-4.
Minford needs to beat somebody with a good record to get in.
Garaway is 1-2, but should finish no less than 7-3.
Nelsonville is 1-2, but still have a chance to get a bunch of points.

Long Range Predictions:

1. Wheelersburg
2. Harrison Central
3. Zane Trace
4. Union Local
5. Nelsonville-York
6. Garaway
7. Ironton
8. Coshocton

Long way to go!
yeah still long way to go

I ran some ironton numbers and if they go 6-4 they will end up in neighborhood of 12.8 pts and out of last 3 years that was worth a number 7 seed 2 times and 1 no playoff appearance so if the region continues to show weakness my guess says ironton has a legit shot!!!

who on this list would want to draw ironton as a round 1 game ??

Wheelersburg probably wouldn't be happy by earning a 1 seed and see Ironton the 1st round if they were to sneak in.

If Northwest were to make the playoffs beating a bunch of SOCI schools, well that would definitely show the bad side of the Harbin Points System.

I Don't See Ironton with enough points making the playoffs!
Unless They Beat Ashland! No Win, No Playoffs!

a 6-4 ironton gets them 12.8 pts and that is based on following

cheseapeake 9 wins
rock hill 3 wins
Portsmouth 4 wins
coal grove 4 wins
south point 3 wins
fairland 0 wins

5-5 I think but.... We Will See Week 10
Could Even Be 4-6. Ashland, Chesapeake, & Coal Grove may be 3 more losses Ironton gets handed to them this season.

On some other threads, posters are saying how weak R17 is. But as of today, Zane Trace has the highest average of any D5 team, R17's number 8 team at 4.475 is higher than R15's number 8, and there are 9 teams in R17 at 3-1 or better which is right in line with the other three D5 regions. But I would expect big changes in the R17 places as the season goes on.

Wheelersburg-Jackson is a big game for Region 17 this week. A Burg win means mega points.
Harrison Central has St. Clairsville next week. Should handle Ferry this week.
Ridgewood punished a good Sandy Valley team on the ground last week.
Garaway plays Sandy Valley this week after the Pirates back up QB threw for 476 yards against the Hornets of East Canton.
Ridgewood-Garaway play next week.
Are Rock Hill and River Valley for real? We will find out in coming weeks.
Zane Trace has Paint Valley next week. Their only tough game the rest of the way except for maybe at Piketon who could be 5-2 when they play.
Minford and Alexander are both going to have to beat a team with a real good record to get in.
I still don't want to count out Coshocton and Ironton. Tigers would have to win all six to have a chance.
Wellston has some tough games coming up. Beating the right teams could get them in at 7-3.
The Jets of Union Local have some winnable games down the stretch. Especially that last one against Barnesville who could be carrying a lot of points.

After Week 4 Final predictions:

1. Wheelersburg
2. Zane Trace
3. Harrison Central
4. Ridgewood
5. River Valley
6. Union Local
7. Coshocton
8. Ironton

A lot of things could happen! :122245

Ironton could rather easily win the OVC, even without star players. If they beat Portsmouth, I say they win out and sneak in. I hope they keep Dino out so he can get healthy and maybe full strength by the time playoffs arrive. At this point in time, it almost seems impossible but, it could happen.

Too early to talk that, just one game at a time. A healthy Ironton team that actually starts blocking, could make noise.

Can't help but think too if Portsmouth had some of the talent from last year, they could easily be in the playoffs. The talent pool is pretty dry there now.

You NAILED IT!
BLOCKING!
If they dominate on Defenselike like they did in the first 3ganes, there's no reason they cannot block for these runners. Put 'DINO where he belongs now & concentrate on all of those other backs listed. They are the future of IHS FB. Im not trying to dismiss 'DINO.!! He was:""back of the year", just less than a year ago. He ran a big TD against WB. Whatever is going on with him, deal with it & keep him out if a BACK's back is injured. Give him a break so he has a future.
Run the rest of the stock of back's listed on the roster!!! RUN RUN RUN.
Start passing only when the run fails. So far, No1has been able to stop DEZ completely. Time to see the bread & butter staring right down these upcoming teams face & give the bread some butter to complete the dinner!!!

there's some truth to that. In the Burg game it seemed as if he was either making or in on 80% of the stops by Ironton. But he also was on the field for about the same percentage of Ironton's offense. What's strange is that a program like Ironton's doesn't have another effective running back to use in lieu of Paladino. Doesn't have to be nearly as good, just make some effective carries to spell Young. Having watched Ironton vs Burg and Portsmouth vs Burg and Valley-hard to believe that Ironton can't win this even with poor play selection.
