That year West lost at home to Ironton 20-7 and lost to Burg at Burg 21-20. Would have been a good one.

Good info, thanks! Didn't realize they had a common opponent that year.

Sounds to me ironton and burg mirrored each other in 89 and if that’s the case, I think the 2017 burg team would’ve beat both 1989 teams

I could care less who would win the matchup between Burg and Ironton 89 teams. What I think is really outstanding is that 2 teams in southern Ohio that are 20 miles apart both won state championships in the same year! I wish that Burg and Ironton weren't in the same division now so that could possibly happen again one day.

You mean the 93 team? You might be right but burgs defense against the run was pretty good. Plus would ironton be able to handle the spread back then? Different style of football now.

I think he is talking about Jonathan Eaton’s senior year.

Back then Ironton was 2-3 deep and was Ironton of old!! Ironton would have won this matchup.

Don’t think it was 93 because Portsmouth beat Burg 27-7 their only loss and think knocked burg out of playoffs.

Do you not think the Burg coaches up in the press box couldn't see they were in Two Man wide???

No investigation. No vindication. Questions remain and should be asked.

Nah, I'll take the 2000 (12-1) Logan team. Outscored the SEOAL teams that year 48-10 avg. ppg. and beat Westerville South and Pickerington in playoff games in D1 before losing to eventual State Champ Upper Arlington who had now Dr.Jeff Backes (RB,NW) and Dr. Simon Fraser (DL,OSU) @ Crew stadium. (They beat both Athens and Jackson 62-14 that year).

Go ahead and ask. Don’t be a coward about it. Give Woodward a call. I’m sure he’s accessible. Let me know what you find out. Like you said, Questions need to be asked and answered.

Wasn't 94 with Eaton and Pyles? Tilley as a Sophomore maybe?

I honestly think 98-99 teams were better than the 2017 team.

My bad. I thought you were talking about ironton 93 team. I disagree with the 94 team. They were good but 2017 burg team would’ve beat 94 burg team

Agree to disagree.

No doubt that 17 got the job done, but that was a perfect storm and they took advantage. 94 ran into a buzzsaw.

Ok, but I'd still take Logan and their 5 All-Ohio D1 players that year to win that game . It would be even on offense and Logan's defense was much better. :D
