Where is Greg Brady when you need him the most? If he and Mr Brady could blow up the film, maybe we could tell if the foot was in?
As for Ironton. I looked up some records on the site irontonfootball.com.
Ironton never lost more than 2 games in a season during the 70's under Lutz. The 80's was a dominant decade. 7 out of 10 seasons, Ironton went undefeated in the regular season. From 1978 to 1983, ironton enjoyed 6 straight undefeated regular seasons. 2 more undefeated regular seasons in 1992 and 1993. However, a certain decline began about this time. From 1994 until 1999, Ironton lost at least 2 regular season games. Ironton lost 24 games from 1994-1999. From 1972-1993 Ironton had only lost 28 games total in 22 seasons.
Since 1994 Ironton has enjoyed only 1 undefeated regular season. That was 2001. Since 2001 season, is 52-22. That is a 70% winning percentage.
Since 1994 Ironton is a combined 94-46. That is a 67% winning percentage.
From 1972-1994 Ironton went 217-28-4. That is an 87% winning percentage.

Numbers only count when they re-inforce Ironton dominance. Any numbers that show a decline in Ironton power aren't real.

Don't get me wrong, winning 67% of your games is outstanding, and no one is trying to say that Ironton isn't STILL one of the BEST programs in SE Ohio. They still are. However, the dominance of the '70s and '80s went out the window by the mid-'90s.

Still a GREAT program. Just not the only great one anymore.

You can make stats say whatever you want to say... so here is my "spin" on it:

I could point out to you that from 1972 until 1993 Ironton had 14 playoff appearances in 21 years and that from the 13 "years of decline" (1994 until 2007) there have been 11 playoff appearances. We have until 2015 to get 3 more playoff appearances to be on par with the "strong years". Also, in the "years of decline" we have 1 state championship appearance, 1 state semifinal apperance, and 1 regional final appearance. I would think that alot of football teams in Lawrence, Scioto, Jackson, Gallia, and Hocking counties would love to be in a similar "decline" in the last 13 years.

By the way, this has nothing to do with Logan, because I think they are a terrific team and their QB is one of the finest athletes I have seen in years. This has to do with some skeptics in Ironton that like to pretend to be on the side of the kids and the people that instruct them. I am a Tiger fan no matter who the coach is in any sport!

GO TIGERS!!!

To be on par, you would have had to WIN at least one of those playoff games each season. Twice as many teams go now as used to. Not that I care, but it is true. I only care about now. I'm going to the Zanesville thread.

Guess you Logan fans can't take a compliment. Read my posts, nothing negative toward Logan or Ironton! It is possible to be complimentary of both. My ire was intended for fickle Ironton fans.

GO TIGERS!!!
