Maybe.But he is young and most guys seem to want to go back home.He hasn't moved from galla. .yet ethier still driving back and forth to alex.He has to know he will be in rebuild mode.Something to think about move up to D-2 were you seem to have players all the time or rebuild were their really not much coming up,plus you have the chance to go back where you went to school.All this is just here say right now.

Gotta ask since you're a Trimble fan and you're posting about this topic of homecomings: when Faires decides its his time, a) do you think Holbert would be a great candidate and b) would you want to see him take the reigns?

If your talking about Logan Elm Holbert.Maybe several years down the road.He has a good gig right now.Him and his wife have a job their,they got really lucky selling their house at buckeye lake with what's happen up their,plus they bought a new home.plus don't think Phil is ready to hang it up yet.Think he still has around 5 years left to retire from teaching he got a late start.

this current group of seniors were talented but the cohesiveness coach penrod brought is unexplainable. he makes everyone feel a part of the program freshmen to senior as well as the whole alexander community

and the next year or two prob wont be as successful as it is hard to replace all those seniros but he has brought a sense of unison and pride back to the program all the way down to the junior high and youth.

to us, that makes him successful

Alex has a good team.They are not 29 points better then Trimble bunch of mistakes can't do that against good teams.Didn't like how dirty they played a lot of personal fouls late hits ,targeting Trimble's QB twice when he wasn't even in the play which ended up getting his knee hurt not much class their,and yes they was flagged for it so it did happen.Hopo they do well because their run will be over in a few weeks ,then they will be back to 3-7 or 4-6 because JV is not very good 73-0 sat could have been more but was told to call off the dogs.Also little food for thought,Last year Penrod is at Alex.he is a Logan Grad.Word is Lancaster coach is retiring,Logan coach going to Lancaster because is a grad their ,and Penrod going to Logan.Hard to keep a program going with new coaches every couple years.

This rumor about Lancaster's coaching leaving has been going around for a decade. He's still there. And they're back in the playoffs.

I also don't think Lancaster is going to hire Burke. They will have a ton of options to hire - including several from "in-house" who have been waiting their turn.

Burke is a lot more likely to be at some place like Canal Winchester (when Mauro leaves again) than Lancaster IMO.


A lot more to a person's life than just football. Lots of reasons to stay south of Logan for the Penrods IMO.

Not surprised. Penrod has been a leader his entire life. He's learned from some great coaches and done an excellent job learning how to create/establish culture change. I had zero doubt he'd have success at Alexander.

Reality is that LAST season was a success at Alex, and if you can consistently win 3-6 games a season, then you've been successful. No coach is going to churn out 7+ win seasons every year in Albany, but staying around .500 with a few playoff appearances is getting the job done IMO.

I look for Penrod to have a chance after Coach Burke leaves that is if he leaves! Penrod would be a good DC for a year b-4 Burke leaves! Good team cause mistakes and turnovers! And yes the Spartans are at least 21-28 points better!

Would love to have a D-Coordinator like Penrod, but the guy is not going to leave a head coaching job to be a coordinator some where.

Alex is better than Trimble plain and simple. I'd venture to say tho, that all schools have a few of those fans that like using excuses. Just the nature of sports it seems

Was indeed a good game, but Meigs handed it to them 3 Interceptions and a fumble and still only lose by 9 points. Bad kickoffs for negative yards, I don't think Alex played on there side of the field all night long. Missed extra points and Meigs isn't having to rush with 3 minutes left to go and throw on a 3 and 1 in triple coverage.

Hate to say it..Alexander isn't that good. They beat Three D7 Teams, Beat Athens in which Athens got beat by River Valley, Beat Trimble in which gave Nelsonville there only Win of the year....Yeah a 9-1 record looks impressive and is GREAT for those Seniors, But seriously, they will be back to a .500 team next year if not worse.
