I actually feel sorry for Valley they are just out matched in all parts of everything. It is going to be a long year. Let's just hope they don't get hurt and they improve.

Valley might be in for a very long year. Definitely growing pains.

Grove 52 valley 6 final

Before you decide to repeat a story, ask yourself three questions: 1) Is it true (Eph. 4:25)? 2) Is it kind (Eph. 4:32)? 3) Is it necessary (Eph. 4:29)? If not, please don't repeat it (Lev. 19:16; Prov. 11:13; 16:28; 17:9; 18:8; 1 Tim. 5:13).

So Valley has given up 59 and 52 points in the first 2 weeks and getting the ball ran all over them, knew it would be a tough season but wow. Hope the youngsters keep their heads up and they'll benefit from this in another year or so.

Valley has 5 players out with injuries and had a player leave in a ambulance today I didn’t see the player go but the parents beside me said it was a valley player but didn’t know who so their depth is even worse right now. Watching this game I was amazed at the size difference of the two teams. Cg had players in the secondary that could play oline for valley. It just shows how young valley is. Cg came out and just hit them in the mouth. Was a little disappointed that when things started going south for valley none of the players tried to motivate the others to stay in the game. That’s probably the lack of seniors. It’s definitely going to be a long season for them and there is a chance they won’t win a game this year.

The crew they were going to have is no longer working together, then couldn’t find fill in refs because they all had games already. It’s not supposed to be as hot Saturday. Original plan was 11am. No one wants to play that early. So with a soccer game already scheduled for Saturday evening, Saturday afternoon was the time to play.
Well sound great, now just play the game!!

Valley Administration needs to push for Conference expansion or realignment. Football could change alignment without affecting any other sport. It is not the athletes fault they are playing a lopsided schedule, 1-3 division larger schools. Administration needs to look at what is best for the students they have, and put them in a position of being able to compete. Valley has competitive kids, and a very competitive team if they were playing comparable schools. Valley has lots of skill kids, but just do not have the same #'s for the line. Back filling the skill kids will be an easy task for Valley for the next few years, but filling the line out will be the struggle.

Yeah that’s how I see it. Even if you look on the sidelines there is just no one for the line. They have no size at all. The kids played hard to start the game but once the route was on they just looked deflated.

It’s really funny that when Coal Grove runs the score up like this it’s ok. However when the tables are turned they say it’s unsportsmanlike… lol

Coal Grove Div. VI Region 23 OHSAA Count of 141 (including the 11 Competitive Balance addition)

Valley Div. VI Region 24 OHSAA Count of 131 (includes 9 CB)

The numbers look pretty even to me. I think it is more of a student participation issue.

Your post sounds like the NW coach, expecting to play only low level competition so you have a greater chance to win and be a conference champ. What does that help really?

Valley plays in D6, arguably one of the toughest divisions. Playing cupcakes won’t help them neither. They just lost to a tough D6 team who’s probably not even in the top 10 in the division!
They gotta get more kids out period, same as most other schools not named Wheelersburg!
If you can’t learn to play to the level of your competition then nothing is going to help anyway. Nolan and staff are doing the right things and you can only do so much with inexperience.

Tough loss and an even tougher season. Keep grinding. Keep improving. There's not much to say that's already been said.

I never said they were a top level team in the state. Coal Grove is one of the closest in size on this years schedule. Does not change the fact that Valley does not have a consistent Lineman size or style of kids coming through. However the #'you show give CG a plus 10 over valley or borderline Division larger. Give valley 10 more kids based on cb and make them all linemen then the game would be balanced.

Where it would help is the kids heath the size difference was insane valley had no chance it’s only going to get worse if something is not done it’s hard to get kids to come out if you have a running clock out on you every game
