Waverly is in a must win situation if they are to be at .500 better at seasons end.

Coach Bartholomew has brought a needed guiding hand to Chillicothe to go along with always good talent.

Waverly indeed has a talent and experience gap compared to last years squad, but have shown moments of excellence in each of their games.

I hope for a different result, but the Tigers just do not have enough depth to pull a rabbit out of the hat against the Cavaliers. Chili 42 Waverly 19.

A little Chillicothe vs Waverly History via Dan Ramey’s Facebook page:

Chillicothe-Waverly: The last time they met, September 20, 1935 in the season opener.

Herrnstein Field made its debut on Arch Street with seating for 1,000 fans.
Kick off was 3pm (assuming the stadium lights were not yet installed).

As reported in the Scioto Gazette, future CHS Athletic Hall of Famer and Ohio State standout, Jim Strausbaugh found the end zone six times as Chillicothe posted an 80-0 victory. To my knowledge, this is the highest scoring in CHS Football history followed by a 75-point performance by the 1998 Cavaliers in a win at Hillard Darby.

The Chillicothe -Waverly series has been lopsided, 401 to 0 with Chillicothe winning all seven meetings.

Offenses are far different today than 87 years ago and the players have grown in size. In the 1935 meeting. The heaviest starter for Chillicothe was 170 pounds! The average weight for the players in the trenches on both sides nears 250 pounds.

The two schools were set to rekindle the series in 2021, but in the wackiness following the pandemic, the game was canceled. Our Litter Media cameras were scheduled to be at the '21 game. So, this meeting will be our featured Game of the Week.

Follow Litter Media on twitter for game updates and watch for Litter Media Extras over the weekend and a Game highlight video on our Litter Media YouTube Channel. SUBSCRIBE to the channel... it's FREE!

Friday's also Waverly's Homecoming. Good luck to the Senior Candidates, Kaelyn Linn, Emma Hobbs and Morgan Crabtree. One of them will be crowned queen at halftime.

I give Waverly a ton of credit for their fight and the way they compete, but this will be the tallest mountain they have tried to climb. Too much, too often in the blue! Chillicothe 40 Waverly14

One thing about it if our youngsters can come out the end the this healthy and continued progress as the season moves on if we're able to get into the playoffs it will have prepared us big time. Chillicothe---Johnson Central---West---Valley and Burg all in a row could make men out of some young players sooner rather than later

I said in an earlier post that I could see Chillicothe running the rest of their table. If this were last year's game before the cancelation I'd take Waverly by a couple scores. But the world of HS football changes quickly, and these two teams are not the same as last year. Chillicothe should take this one, though it will be close through the 3rd quarter.

Chillicothe hasn’t put up massive offensive numbers, but this could be a week to put it all together since Waverly has given up a ton of points through 3 weeks.

I’ll go with Chillicothe 37-21, but likely close for a while unless Waverly gets off to the same start they did last week.

Absolutely right these 1st 3 weeks, we've found ourselves down by 20, 10, 18 at some point during the 1st half and we've scratched clawed and fought to get back into games and win 2 of the 3. Eventually doing that was going to catch up with us and against Unioto it did, Chillicothe is the same thing we simply can't afford the early offensive mistakes and get down 2 scores early. IF and that's a huge IF we can avoid the turnovers, we've yet to do that that so far, we can keep this game close and have a shot come 4th quarter. I know we want to play fast but I can't help but to think about with our ability to run it maybe it's time to eat some clock, having a 1 min. 3 and out and punting is just another way of putting a lot of strain on the defense.

Livestream is on SOSA's Youtube channel.

About as good of a start as I could hope for, 21-0 Cavs

35-12 Cavs at the half.

Starters for Chillicothe came out early and have been sent back in, could've had a running clock if they had the starters in for the whole half.
