Yes, Chieftain ENVY rears its ugly head again. I hate to pick on Athens ( ) but everyone KNOWS the real reason they left-- to play smaller schools and easier competition. Winning at all costs. Travel ? Please, don't pull and "ironton" here !
Logan will be fine. Dublin Jerome, DeSales and maybe Watterson and eventually Central Ohio may re-evaluate Logan for others teams schedules or leagues up there. "Advertising" pays off. Just ask Toyota, Honda, GE or Merck ! 8)
Of course , the SEOAL will still be around. Very possible someone or two or three come back.

If Logan is that good, Alexander and Zanesville should easily win state lol.Logan is no better than the other TVC teams. Athens played the only state caliber team in region 9. I dont see logan playing worthington kilbourne. Athens is also playing an occ cardinal team. Both teams are terrible in the occ

Raider please deal in reality here. Logan has defeated Athens, Meigs, and N-y. Now you may suggest they could not beat River Valley or Alex. Of course you would only be wrong again.
I do agree Logan should not be a member of the TVC. It would be a giant step backwards for the football program.
Remember Athens did not have $$$ to run their busses but they did have the money to buy themselves out of the contract with Logan football.

No money was exchanged. Athens lefted the league before expansion SEOAL ever played a game. We played years in the SEOAL while already signed with the TVC.

Oh, hey, what do you know? Raider is AGAIN posting inaccurate information.RAIDER6309 wrote: No money was exchanged. Athens lefted the league before expansion SEOAL ever played a game. We played years in the SEOAL while already signed with the TVC.
Athens was STILL in the SEOAL in 2007. The league expanded BEFORE 2006. So Athens played not ONE but TWO seasons in the expanded SEOAL. They announced at the end of the 06-07 school year they were leaving the SEOAL. They had to stay through the 07-08 school year to start TVC football play in 2008.
You ARE right about no money exchanging hands. But Athens DID back out of a gentleman's agreement to continue the football contract in 2008 and 2009. From the Logan Daily News; Nov. 1, 2007:
"Athens High School on Tuesday backed out of a contract with Logan for a pair of non-league football games, meaning the Chieftains have a glaring week-three hole on their 2008 and 2009 schedules."
"Ron Janey, Logan High School activities director, said no monetary fine was put into place in case one of the schools broke the contract, which was a good-faith agreement between the two schools."

So if people REALLY want the truth about why Logan and Athens didn't play from 2008-2014, it had NOTHING to do with Joey Burrow. It had EVERYTHING to do with Patrick Angle.
Athens didn't want to get killed by Angle and co. (Instead, Logan beat up on another green an gold team, Hamilton Township).
And as long as Ron Janey was the A.D., he wasn't going to play Athens after they broke that contract. Period.

It's a shame Logan 2009 couldnt play Athens 2014. I'd pay $1,000 to see that game!

You don't think the 08 team was better all around than the 09 team? Always thought Neff and Sigler made the 08 defense superior. And Huntsberger was easy to forget on the offensive side.dazed&confused wrote:It's a shame Logan 2009 couldnt play Athens 2014. I'd pay $1,000 to see that game!

i'd take 08 over 09. the defense was a lot better.
Re: Logan gets turned away from MSL again. Now what!?
I agree I think the 08 team was better, but think the 07 team was better then all of them, that team had everything. The 08 team had everything except a good running game outside of Angle scrambling around, but guys I got to be honest that Athen offense would have been too much even for Amyx's great defense's,nobody in the state stopped them. Logan's offense on the other hand was stopped by a decent, but not great Brookhaven team.

da-haven stopped them only because of a cheap shot that put patrick out for the game. the 07 team lucas (hollywood) wright and justin frye.

Re: Logan gets turned away from MSL again. Now what!?
They only had ten points up to the third quarter when he got hurt, but they might have scored a time or two more if he stayed in who knows.Yea old Hollywood could really kick the chicken, some of the catches he made were just unbelievable and his return game had other teams fearing him when kicking or punting he was so dangerous, and of course Frye was the back they lacked the years after with his running ability and take it to the house mentality, even the older Angle boy was a pretty good passer by the time his senior year rolled around.I think that team has the all time record for points in a game or season but not sure.

You did, 2014 TV vs Athens. That TV defense was very good. Gave up something like 3 points per game and had a running clock in every game. They called themselves the #1 ranked defense in Ohio loldazed&confused wrote:It's a shame Logan 2009 couldnt play Athens 2014. I'd pay $1,000 to see that game!

Buttermore and Amyx seem to have built two identical programs. Both very goodC-Bolt wrote:It's that coach Buttermore, they were a sad program before he arrived
