Logan 5-0 at Shadyside 1-4

Post by Logangrad »

Huge mismatch records wise; I know nothing on Shadyside personnel; but will do my homework. Logan should be able to get out with a win; but long bus ride, uncharted territory; unknown; anything can happen.

I think Logan should pull out a win in this one, but don't let Shadyside's record fool you! They've lost to Magnolia, WV (5-0); Monroe Central Division 5 (2-3); Caldwell Division 7 (5-0); Meadowbrook Division 4 (5-0); and beat Toronto Division 7 (4-1). Shaydside usually a regional powerhouse.

Agree, don't underestimate Shadyside. Look for a Logan W, but Shady should play hard.

I agree....DO NOT underestimate Shadyside. They are a very well coached group. Caldwell jumped all over them and was up 21-0 half way through the second qtr. Score ended up 21-0. They made some good defensive adjustments and shut Caldwell down in second half. Don't get me wrong, we had tons of opportunites to score and never followed through. Was the one game where our team did not seem to be on the same page and it showed on the field.

You can see on film that Shadyside is very well coached. They have some good size up front. Might be missing the "x factor" on offense they had the past couple of seasons, but they can give teams problems.

Hopfully Logan's balance on offense and depth up front will prevail.

Shady doesn't have the skill players they have had in seasons past this year. They also have played some good teams as I warned in pre-season. Still, Logan should win this game and Shadyside will have some late victories in the season so there are some points to be had here. Long trip but it was a tough game to fill as most everyone is in league play and most in their area avoid Shady. Logan is lucky they even got a game for this date. Shady should be back to the playoffs next year. Logan looks to be a shoo in for playoffs this year.

I would not be surprised to see the Tigers win this one.

Maybe last year, Logan was dealing with some injuries. Don't think last years Shadyside team could have stopped this years Logan offense. Logan's Big and physical up front, with a very good balanced attack, with too many weapons at their disposal. Would have been a slugfest between last years Shadyside and this years Logan, but things change year to year, so it's silly to compare.

Logan should win this game by a few scores, but if they mess around and let slim Shady side stay in it they may be in trouble.

The Eastern District changes every few years with some powerhouse teams. Martin's Ferry, Bellaire , Shadyside, etc. Only the Ville stays pretty much on high octane. Being smaller schools , even with good coaching, you run out of talent. Same everywhere really. Frankly, I would expect Shady to return to the playoffs next year but not sure they have the talent to make more runs into state championship games in D-7. Logan seems to be returning to usual form with big kids and skill people. Despite the comments made on this thread , Shady will not be in the ballgame long with Logan. It could well get ugly. Logan filled a difficult schedule slot as did Shady. Notice that neither was yelling for a TWO year contract. It is what it is. Both get a game to keep the players active with competition. Look for Logan to pound it out and keep the clock running. Its a long trip home.

Shadyside struggles on offense, a lot. Only put up 26 points so far this year. I would not be surprised to see them get shut out again, unless they can grab a score late in the game against the reserves or something.

The route 93 team is 93rd out of 107 in D2 Strength of Schedule. Look for Logan to roll in this one.

Jackson and DeSales await, they need one of those to get off the 8-2 play-off bubble in Region 5.

What do the Chiefs have in common with a Chicken?
#1 They both wear FEATHERS.

#2 After a slaughter it's cut & run. ie LANCASTER.

#3 They run from all things that are bigger than them.

#4 They like to peck on the littles.

After Shadyside beat previous unbeaten Toronto last week the Tigers bumped up to 15th in R25. They pull another one out this week vs. a D2 team and Tigers are playoff bound. Won't be easy to do, but Fleming Field is no easy place to come away with a win the last 15 years. Coach Holenka is a defensive guru and if his team gets a turnover and two (and it's gonna be wet/sloppy Friday night watch out Chieftains.

Logan's defense seems to let teams stay around putting too much on the offense.
Teays Valley is about the only game the defense played well.

Logan has given up almost 140 points to teams that have an overall record of 12-13.

If little ole D7 Shadyside with 400 boys less than D2 Logan can play defense, this may be an upset alert game.

Never know.
