Eastern @ (Hannibal) River - Week 1

Post by surfsider »

anyone know what starters return for both teams... and if they were all-District or anything?

thought River had its QB back and a couple linemen, but they lost a real good receiver in Brok (Yep, he spells it that way) Cross.

River will have 1000 yd. passer Joey Flannery and talented back Lucas Isaly returning along with their experienced coaching staff. What matters in high school sports is, not how good your team is but good your competition is. In a small school, like River, avoiding injuries will be very important. Todays class size requires sports to share athletes and stop promoting one sport specialists. 30 years ago Monroe, Washington, and Noble County schools were much larger. Participation and injuries now have become very important!

No doubt about that olddog.

Did some digging in old program. River has tackles Mason Ladyga and Luke Matusik, guard Collin Huffman, center Zac Smith, and receivers Drew Dietz and Braden Whetsell, and Lukas Isaly returning in the backfield. Joey Flannery at QB will at least have an experienced offense to work with this season.
Avoiding injuries will be key to Pilots with the likes of WV power Magnolia and county rival Monroe Central in weeks 2-3.

Eastern returns a junior Jett Facemyer at QB, Cam Richmond at WR, and Ross Keller and Chase Williams on the O-Line. There are several others returning that played significant time last year as the season progressed. Austin Life, Mac Browning, and Corbett Catlett played significant minutes up front last year and made several starts. I would imagine the talented sophomore duo of Trenton Delacruz and Jacob Brewer will get the majority of reps in the backfield this year. Both are returning lettermen and started games last year on offense and defense. Like olddog said,Eastern (just like nearly every other D7 school) needs to stay healthy. After a losing 12 seniors last year, it looks like participation numbers are up, but I imagine there is a great deal of youth/first year players in the 2-deep.

Heard Eastern looked pretty good in their scrimmage against Green. Of course, I don't know how good Green is expected to be this year. Anybody know about who River scrimmages, or if they have yet?

I was shocked to hear that Eastern has 46 players out this year. They should compete well in D7 this year. I look for a first round home game in week 11

Didn't they just start football back up this year? Those are good numbers for a first year program after several years without a team.

No
They have had a team every year since joining the TVC and have the same amount of playoff wins has NY in the last 10 years.

Why does a Nelsonville guy even care about Eastern? No their program isnt as good as Nelsonvilles. That's not news to anyone.

I checked your link below and Eastern Pike located in Beaver Ohio has nothing to do with Reedsville Eastern of the TVC. Are all people in NY area as blind as you when it comes to not even knowing who is in their own league. wow

WOW, you continue to amaze with off topic comments. You have proven your own point. You dont need any help. Again good luck to the brown buckeyes of NY in the quest for the playoffs this season.

What is the competition like for Eastern? River will play Buckeye Trail, Monroe Central, Tyler Consolidated and Magnolia all expecting good seasons. Who does Eastern compete with that expects to be good this year? The trip to Hannibal may cause concerns to the Eagles, at least two hours on a school bus. Hope the weather, early season game, does not get involved.
