I think the Burg rolls in this one.

Valley only won by 9 and did that with power running by Arnett. Does burg have a back that can just grind out a game?

No they don't. 3 guys ran down the Burg player that broke thru the CG line on one play or two, also when CG broke the line they were gone.

Got to go with the UNDERDOGS! Trojans if talent can overcome experience! Trojans have some atholetes! Hope they utilize their speed and run game early on.

Hopefully Howard will be back in the backfield this week for Burg. He went out with an injury early in the Ironton game and didn't play last week against CG. Having more of a threat from the backfield will add another dimension to the offense.

Wheelersburg needs to shore up the run defense. Whether it's personnel moves or schemes it needs fixed. The offense can outscore a lot of the teams on the schedule but it'll be different against the playoff caliber teams. Portsmouth is much improved I'm sure but I think The Burg will still come out on top in this one.

Wheelersburg is undoubtedly the favorite on Friday night. However, Coach Sparks has tremendously improved this Portsmouth team, who is one dropped pass away from being 2-0. I think this is going to be a lot closer than what people think. I think the Trojans' skill players out-match Burg's skill players (apart from Eddie Miller) , hopefully our line comes ready to battle. Best of luck to the Trojans.

I hope Burg works on their defense and knows where the weaknesses are. I know its only week 3 but you have to figure by tape and practice what is right and what is wrong. Offense looks great. Need to adjust for outside blitz imo. Other than that, I hope the Burg comes out on top!! Make the new Ptown coach wonder what hit him!!! GO BURG!!

Seems like this will be the most interesting game to see this week. May venture over there and check it out. Going with the burg.

You should ask the OHSAA to outlaw the long pass. That has been your excuse both weeks! West is 0-2 and has given up 76 points! At some point, the deep ball is something every team uses. As in, it is part of the game!

8 out of 10 times, Portsmouth doesn't need any help beating themselves...just a sad truth..
Burg will have to step up d contain and stay in their lanes on kickoff to avoid big breakout runs / avoidable td's though

Still taking the Burg

Kickoff coverage is something Burg does need to work on. We have a great freshman kicker who puts the ball on the 5 every time, but if the coverage doesn't keep their lanes, he may as well kick it shorter to someone who really doesn't want to be returning it. Also, he is 9/10 (hit the upright on his first attempt) on extra points and 1/1 on field goals. Having a good kicker could be a real weapon in a tight game later in the season.

Has been true in the past "Clifford" years that Portsmouth would beat themselves. He was good for a 7 point swing in decision making. Under new coach will that 7 points may have to be earned rather than handed to them. Makes point spread harder to predict.
