According to their website, Pikeville signed a total of 68 kids this week. There will be a lot of competition to see who isn't redshirted once you mix in their returning players from last year.94DRAGONS wrote:Evan Maddox, Dionte Braye and Devonte Braye from Fairland will be joining the Burg boy's at the University of Pikeville.

Pikeville is a NAIA school so there is no such thing as a true signing day. Kids us everything from university fake money to loans to play. When I say fake money, the university has scholarships that allow the student-athlete to get dollars subtracted from their tuition. They are also given a certain amount of money for a football scholarship. Most NAIA schools will bring in 40-70 players, most won't stay through the first year cause they have been used and abused as a blocking dumbie or they realize they just aren't good enough to play at the collegiate level. Just because the fan in the stand thinks you are doesn't make you that good. I hope the local kids who committed to play at the next level stay the course and understand it takes alot more work both in the classroom and weightroom to play at sometime during the 4 or 5 years.

At NAIA schools, they're football scholarship is part of a financial package, which includes financial aid, athletic scholarship, local scholarships, grants, and so forth. This package is based off an EFC #. (estimated financial contribution). Which is a government estimated number on how much the parents or guardians of the athlete can afford to send their kid to college. So if a kid is from a single parent household with little income, the EFC # will probably be 0. Therefor they will not have to use any athletic money on the kid because he will get full financial aid. That's why NAIA will bring in a lot of players, because a lot of them do not cost the school anything through scholarship money. Also most of these programs have JV schedules, so will not just be practice dummies. Good luck to these young men.PurpleBlood1 wrote:Pikeville is a NAIA school so there is no such thing as a true signing day. Kids us everything from university fake money to loans to play. St. Clairsville is sending LB Michael Ferns to Michigan and running back Jalen Brown to Youngstown St. Last season St.C. sent Dan Monterosso receiver to Purdue and Jarred Marhefka receiver to OU....not bad for a small school.
