Athens would beat the crap out of any team in the district. That's no disrespect to our other district teams - we have some darn good football teams this season - it's a huge compliment to the Bulldogs. No team in our district, and few in the state at the D3 level, can match Athens' stockpile of quality athletes. For as much love as Burrow, Williams, the Luehrman's, the line play and the rest of that offense gets, the improvement Athens' defense has made this season is impressive. Are they still giving up yards? Yes, but it is more of a bend but don't break unit that makes the big play when needed.

I think Tri Valley scored 6 in the second half. DeSales scored 7 in the 2nd half. ASVSM scored 14.

Yea, not to bad by the D.

Bingo!! I don't think I've ever seen halftime adjustments that were so noticeably effective. Kudos to the Bulldog coaching staff.

Not True, If Athens were still in the SEOAL, the league would still be viable for logan, Warren, Jackson, and Gallipolis.

Your school is in the state finals and every fan within SE Ohio that is worth a darn is pulling for them each and every week, going to the games, watching online, listening or following closely on FB or Twitter.....and you post this?

The TVC was definitely the difference as the strong league allowed the Athens boys to play 4 full quarters and be tested. The SEOAL would've just been 55-7 halftime scores and the stars never would've seen a 4th quarter and ultimately would've resulted in them losing to Tri Valley....oh wait

Bring it home Athens....Jackson is pulling hard for you.

No offense to the area teams but Athens is on another level. U can make an argument that Athens has the best defense in SEO

Well put Raider.

Athens' offense puts so much pressure on the opposing teams offense that often times the opposing team is forced in attempting to trade scores and get away from what they are "good at". When they do Athens D has has the bend do not break mentality.

Most teams, actually no teams Athens have faced this year, have the offensive production ability of the Bulldogs, and once they try to do something they are not used to it is advantage Athens.

I echo I92 here and wish Athens best of luck Thursday, bring home a title, it is well deserved, thank you for representing the area with excellence and class. Roll A-train Roll.

Oh and to answer the original question, just for the record lol Athens would have been 10-0 in regular season, SEOAL league champion and still 14-0 and playing for a state final.

Not a particularly good topic IMO, but whatever.

Actually, the tread was more sarcasim towards the Logan posters, Paladin and Moonshie as well as a few others, who beat that horse for several years.

Would have been one of the toughest mid size leagues in the state over the past few year if Athens, Chillicothe, Ironton, Point Plesant, and Zanesville were in the SEOAL

I will buy the Paladin argument then lol, moonshine you can at least have some fun with, Paladin not so much.

It may be July 2015 before he returns lol.
