Looking at OHSAA website I noticed that now all of Coal Grove's games minus week one against Pleasants will start at 7 pm. Week one against Pleasants will start at 7:30.

I hope the same thing myself. been having back/knee issues for years. and my wife generally was working on game nights. and I won't make the trip down unless someone is with me.
if I can't I'm right here in the man cave with a big ole hospital glass of luzianne sweet tea listening.

I was thinking the same thing. CE was competitive last year & have the majority of the team back!

They finished 9th in our Region with an 8-2 record. Their 8 wins came against fairly weak Teams.

I got to say I'm kinda disappointed in this topic that we didn't get to hear from more of an array of various OVC fans.
but I hope Friday night that all the OVC teams start campaigns that are slight on injuries and long on success.

WORTHLESS STATS OF THE NIGHT

OVC Week one opponents were a combined 55-15 last year.

All week one opponents had a .500 or better record in the regular season with two of these teams being 10-0.

Week 1 OVC Games
Wheelersburg at Ironton
Johnson Central, KY at Fairland
Rock Hill at River Valley
Oak Hill at Chesapeake
Marion Pleasants at Coal Grove
Minford at South Point
Lucasville Valley at Portsmouth
Is this correct? If so, anything better than 2 wins out of these games would be a positive step for the OVC.

Johnson Central is a loss every time, no matter which OVC team plays them.
It's hard to pick against Wheelersburg after they mauled Ironton twice last year.
I would love, love, love to see Rock Hill pull a mini-upset on the road against River Valley, having competed so well against Symmes Valley in their jamboree game. But until I see signs of improvement in Pedro, I have to go against them.
I have no idea what Oak Hill returns from last year's team, but I'll go with them again this year.
Marion Pleasant was very good last year but lost pretty much everyone from that team. This is a game that Coal Grove should win if they're a serious playoff contender.
South Point was awful last year and I can't see them turning it around enough in time to get a win against an alway-solid Minford program.
Valley, of course, is Valley and should win very handily against a Portsmouth program that's been in the doldrums for a while.

I'd love to see the OVC get 4 wins (Coal Grove, Ironton, Rock Hill, Chesapeake), but I'm predicting 0 or 1 (Coal Grove).
