Mike carter is a great coach. No doubt the best of those rumored to have applied.

No way. As most people know I'm not one to be negative about much on here, but I'd be pretty strongly against bringing Coach Spicer here. I've seen him run two programs into the ground.

When he got the job at Hillsboro I told a good friend who coaches at a rival school that Spicer would probably have some success the first year, but then things would turn south fast. Hillsboro has won 4 games in the past 3 seasons after going 8-2 in his first year. Even in that first season Hillsboro only beat a 2-8 GAHS team 35-34 at home.

From everything I've heard coach Spicer is an infinitely nice guy. I just don't think he's at all what Logan is looking for in this search.

GalliaGrad -

I'd love to have him back at LHS. I think he has done a lot of great things at GAHS with Coach Eddy.

But I know Logan isn't the only place interested in Coach Penrod. His future is very bright.

catsandbucks wrote:I have heard whoever gets offered the job it may be one they cannot refuse. Assistant Dean of students with teaching lifting classes in the afternoon.

I have heard 4 names from talking to people in the area.

Heath Hinton- Head coach Circleville
Wade Bartholomew (spell)- Head coach Huntington
These two would fit in fine!
Mike Carter- Head Coach Johnstown

Sean Arno- Head Coach Alexander

I believe the best choice would be Wade, he would bring an exciting system to Logan football. He took an impossible job in Huntington and developed something from absolutely nothing with no help in hiring of assistant coaches. I would love to see what he could do with the resources Logan has to offer.

But the pattern has become that administrators are going with head coaches not from the area of the school. Will be interesting once the interviews start.

I am sure Penrod will have his day and do good things, but don't feel he is the right one for Logan at this time. Last thing we need is another coach with ties to the admin or board that we can't get rid of. JMO Hearing some good things about the Circleville coach. Any info on him? Where was he before?

what schools beside Logan elm might take some boys from the Circleville area.
Circlrville is quite large, just thinking the school would be bigger

i think Circleville [population] is larger than Logan but are they not in a smaller division?
Does Circleville have more schools than just Circleville high school. i sure when they started up Logan eEm some of the boys that went to Circleville started going to Logan Elm. or is it Logan being all of Hocking County make them a bigger division than Circleville?

Hocking has only one school that's why Logan High School is so big in size, might be a few kids go to other school districts but probably 90% or more go to Logan, not sure but Teays Valley might have a few from around the Circleville area.

C-Bolt, FYI, yes Logan is the only school in Hocking but students of Hocking County also attend,
Southern ( Miller)
Vinton County
Logan Elm
Nelsonville-York
Berne Union
So you can see not all kids in the county go to Logan

Yes I knew they were going to other districts mostly in outlying areas around the county but the vast majority would go to Logan

All the districts that I posted are a part of Hocking County. A total of six different districts make up Hocking County.

But, over 85% of the students attend Logan Hocking!
