OVC Week 6: River Valley (1-4; 0-0) @ Chesapeake (1-4; 0-0)

Post by fuzzhead »

Thus begins River Valley's last OVC conference slate. After much preseason ballyhoo about a possibly much-improved Raider team, results have failed to meet many folks' hopes. Aside from a one-point win against lowly Southern, the Raiders have fallen flat in every other contest this year.
Chesapeake has played an abosultely brutal schedule and they have been rewarded with a 1-4 record. Many have overlooked the Panthers but in the muck and mire of OVC futility, being battle-tested against superior teams in the non-conference schedule can definitely put hair on the chest of a young team like Peake and make playing lesser opponents easier.
I look for the Panthers to win this one handily in what could be the blowout of the week in the OVC. Thoughts?

Just heard the story behind Bernie Stanley quitting. I'll just say it sounds like a real mess at RV. Chesapeake is definitely a good team, despite what their record says. I'll take them by three to four scores. I'm really concerned about the future at RV.

This one is actually at River Valley correct? With Peake's field being worked on, Peake will be home team but game will be at Bidwell. Correct me if I'm wrong.

GO RAIDERS!!

I thought they were using south point field. I remember seeing that weeks ago if not months

Not sure the outcome in this one but I hope RV can pull this one out. If they find what they had early in the season then they could pull out a close one. Whatever the outcome is we all need to continue to support Coach Sparling and this team. It takes time to turn around a program that hasn't had any success. We believe in this program and the good things Sparling is doing. Keep your head up and stay the course because good things will eventually start to happen.

Heard the mood was a lot more positive for RV this week. This can be a turn for the better.

Will this game be played at the old field, or at the new high school?

The game will be at River Valley's new field in Bidwell. This will be the 3rd game at the new field.

Yes, all of Peake's games this season will be played on the opponents' fields, with the proceeds divided according to which team was supposed to be the home team.

Hey, I've heard of some teams being so bad that their homecoming game was an away game, but Peake has no choice this year. However, Peake's underclassmen are looking forward to a great new facility, weight room, etc. next year!

I believe the Panthers will claw the Raiders yet again tonight.

GO, PEAKE!

Roby, what new weightroom? I thought the new locker room and weight room weren't being built.
