Trenchfoot wrote:well according to all of these post. it means getting rid of the spread. and running an old logan basic running offense. full backs, tight ends, couple recievers and big strong physical linemen. and a hitting stingy defense. moonshines right. if ya havent got the tools for the spread. back to the basics. The General wrote:Blocking?...Tackling?...Being physical?....
And if you dont have the tools for the "basics" then what? How do you know what tools they have or dont have? How do you know what the talent level is or who's gotten better over the course of a year? Since you two seem to have all the answers, why arent you on the staff or at practices telling Coach Wolfe what you think will and wont work since you know so much? This reminds me of the scene in "Hoosiers" when Norman Dale goes to the barber shop and the old guy asks "What type of defense do you believe in, man to man or zone?" And one of the "experts" chimes in with "Zone is all we ever used before and its all that will work this season" Funny that movie was set in 1955 ALSO........

Re: 2011 Logan Football
i see ur point. but if the spread isnt working u gotta try something. it takes a pretty talented qb and recievers to make it work. last year proved it. i dont have all the answers and not a know it all. but i know one thing,it only takes a little common sense to see what works and what wont. and i seen the movie hoosiers and the scene where he said that. but this is a whole different story.Loganchiefsnation wrote:Trenchfoot wrote:well according to all of these post. it means getting rid of the spread. and running an old logan basic running offense. full backs, tight ends, couple recievers and big strong physical linemen. and a hitting stingy defense. moonshines right. if ya havent got the tools for the spread. back to the basics. The General wrote:Blocking?...Tackling?...Being physical?....

And I hear you and Ill leave you with this: If I had a 1977 ford escort escort and someone gave me 2007 Corvette for 3 years to race with; winning all kinds of drag races and had everyone tell me how great of a car it was and how fast it was and I never lost a race then the engine blew out........I wouldnt go back to a 1977 Ford Escort, I'd go looking for a 2011 model. Sounds like common sense to me.
Re: 2011 Logan Football
I have personally seen alot of these kids coming up from junior high through freshman games and they don't look like your typical "spread" team,,,they have alot of big physical lineman(could be one of Logan's biggest lines ever in years to come) and hard physical running backs and the offense is pretty conservative that doesn't make alot of mistakes, now I didn't see no gunslinging quarterbacks out there like the Angle brothers or runners as fast and talented as Mays, Justin Frye or Cosgrove from the 90's who stood out from jr high on,, but they're pretty good players who play smart football and don't make alot of mistakes,,it don't take a rocket scientist to figure out a spread offense probably won't work with these kind of players,I'm not a coach and don't want to be one with all the armchair QBS out there second guessing my every move,,thats why they get paid the big bucks they can have it,,,trenchfoot not sure where they're putting that new "poophouse" just hope its nowhere near our water supply
Re: 2011 Logan Football
From what I saw last year with the JV down they didn't use the spread that much.
So it seems like they were putting an offense in that could be 70/30 with the run out in front.
With the freshman the most passing seemed to be in the Marietta game where Logan won in OT and that wasn't until late.

Re: 2011 Logan Football
Theres one problem trench,,,we been harping on the offense since the beginning of time, but the defense will also have to get a whole lot better if those big W's come rolling in,,,way too many missed tackles and bad angles last year,,did Amyx come out of retirement yet just kidding

Back to basics means offense, defense and special teams, in no special order. Have to agree with the Bolt, our defense must improve and limit the mistakes. Big is good, but we need to be in football shape!
