With tonights win, West should come in at around 11.78 points this week. That should put them in good shape for the playoffs and a possible home game.

Need to win both of Burg and Valley for a home game. Win one and were solidly in but traveling. Northwest game will be a gimme.

It will be close, but it looks like Ironton with the loss will stay at #1

Johnstown pretty much ended their hopes with a 21-19 loss to Utica at home. Utica will be playing for their playoff lives when they host Fredricktown (7-0) next Friday.

Heath rolled on the road beating Columbus Academy 43-14. Heath entertains Granville (5-2) next Friday with some huge playoff points on the board.

I think the key is to be in one of the top 4 spots and host for week one. After that each game is on a neutral field. I feel that the top 4 will be between West, Heath, Ironton, Coshocton and Hartley. Of course I would rather be #1 than #4.

A home game week 1 is nice. Other than that, seeds really mean nothing. West was state runners up as a #7 seed. I was wondering about Johnstown. It was looking like they may sneak in as a #7 or #8 seed. They are better than that. That's a team you wouldn't want to play week 1. Hard nosed running teams with experienced coaching staffs are best avoided.

Highland won again last night over Buckeye Valley 42-0...... they have already played and beaten Marion Pleasant and Cardington Lincoln..... and will, more than likely, beat River Valley.

Fredricktown seemed to take the starch out of the Johnnies. I thought the same thing about Johnstown being a hard nosed ground team that could give fits to any team in the region.

Johnstown lost their TE/OLB week 4 but may be back for game 9 or 10 and their ILB/FB was out vs. Loudonville who are both seniors. Johnstown has played well without them, but they were not able to do some things they normally do and it has shown vs. Fredericktown and Utica. The ILB/FB has been limited to only Defense since he came back. Not an excuse, just the reality of football and some younger guys did good jobs, but it's tough when you lose two top players who are getting looked at by D1. TE by Duke and ILB by some MAC schools. Not saying they will get scholly's for sure, but they are definitely D2 worthy or D3 studs.

Was it Chambers ??? I thought this kid was tough as nails the two times I watched him play.

Yeah Atwood and Chambers... Chambers played a little O vs. Utica and Atwood broke his fibula could be back in a week or two.

Johnstown has really good players. If they opened up their offense they would be dangerous. But because they are so predictable lesser talented teams have been able to beat them.

#1 Ironton lost a close one in 3ot to Jackson. Not a bad loss, but Coach Lutz better have the Tigers ready for Hartley this week.

#2 Heath smashed Columbus Academy.

#3 Bishop Hartley took down Thurgood Marshall 38-14.

#4 Coshocton soundly defeated Maysville.

#5 Portsmouth West received a boatload of points from Minford.

#6 Amanda Clearcreek was dropped by Hamilton Township.

#7 Alexander took #13 Wellston's playoff hopes away from them.

#8 Highland blanked Buckeye Valley.

#9 Piketon beat Paint Valley.

#10 Portsmouth tamed the Tigers of Marietta.

#11 Westfall took down Zane Trace.

#12 Johnstown Monroe dropped one to #16 Utica.

#13 Wellston lost a hard fought battle to #7 Alexander.

#14 Unioto was killed by Adena.

#15 River Valley snuck past Mount Gilead.

Define open up their offense... they have a running back with a lot of yards and a QB getting near 500 yards rushing. They work on the pass game a lot, but if you watched them against Fredericktown, they had opportunities in the pass game they could not take advantage of. They are good at what they do and really all teams are predictable if you break them down. They outgained Utica last week but lost by 2...

I think the winner of this weeks Hartley / Ironton team will be #1 in the region. I think if Heath beats Granville and finishes the season at 9-1, they grab the #2 slot.

Does an Ironton win over Hartley guarantee a top 4 spot for the Tigers?

I'd say another win guarantees a home game, regardless of who it's against.

I said it on another thread: don't be surprised if a 5-5 Portsmouth team slithers right in. This region is incredibly weak after the first 4 or 5 teams...
