There are many opinions out there as to who should have made the team. In my opinion there are players that are very deserving to be on this team. Can we not be happy for them. Can the players be happy about it . The answer is no because everyone is saying why didn't so and so make the team. There are posts on here that poke at players on the list as not being deserving to be on the team. They do not come out and say it directly but they are inferring it. Do I think some kids were left off that should have been on the team sure i do. But the kids on the team are deserving of being there. They should feel proud of their accomplishments. And we should be proud of them as well.
To the SEOAL team and honorable mention great job on a great season. Be proud

LEAGUE STANDING AND HOW MANY ALL LEAGUE SELECTIONS

LOGAN 5-0...........(8 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENTION)
IRONTON 5-1 ........(6 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENITON)
PORTSMOUTH 4-2 ..(3 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENTION)
JACKSON 4-2 ........(2 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENTION)
WARREN 2-3.........(4 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENITON)
GALLIA 2-3...........(3 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENITON)
CHILLY 0-6............(2 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENITON)
MARIETTA 0-5........(1 1ST TEAM, 2 HONORABLE MENITON)

It seems to me that Logan and Ironton were rewarded for their finish as they should and deserved. Portsmouth and Jackson did not get rewarded for their finish as team below them had as many or more selections. And Warren, Gallia, and Chilly were over rewarded for their finish. Now I see where Jackson and Portsmouth have a bit of a grip on the league selections and I'm not from either place. Congrats to all of the young men that made the team and good luck in the future for the seniors.

Chillicothe should have recieved three easy

Netter--Defense
Basil--Specials team
Oates--was Mr. Everything for Chillicothe

ironman02 wrote: I'm not saying that any of the kids who made the team weren't deserving, but Eric Landrum should have been on that team and he wasn't even honorable mention! 29 players on the team...obviously there's no rhyme or reason to that, so why not 30?

I don't know if you were referring to my post, but I wanted to make sure that we're on the same page here. Everyone who made the team is deserving, as I said in my original post. Other kids who were deserving have been left off the team. I know that happens, but I felt like it needed to be said that Eric Landrum should have been on that list. I'm not the only person who watches the SEOAL that thinks so. That's my opinion. It's not meant to take credit from anyone else. If that's what you thought I was doing, then I apologize, but I was pretty sure that I made myself clear.

all league is individual award not a who beat who award.

by position is a legitimate way of doing it. credibilty should be foremost. you cant tap these guys as the best of the league. when they were just pretty much the best on there team

Above is was mentioned that Coaches cannot vote for their own players. From my understanding each coach can nominate who he believes is deserving. Then the other coaches have to rate the players and the lowest score is all-league or honorable mention. What rating numbers they use, don't know. I have watched over the past years and seen some, rather unusual choices. I am guessing that each coach votes on his observation when they played each of the other teams. But how could the coaches from for example: Warren, Gallia or Jackson this year vote on the other teams players since they did not play each other. I know this will not be an issue next season since Ironton is out and the SEOAL will go back to playing all league teams. But alas we are only those who wonder how this system works and know it is a flawed system. But the old addage of "We've always done it this way, why change it?" will probably come out somewhere. From a Warren point of view when we were 0-10, 3-7 etc. We only got one or two, this didn't mean that there were not more quality kids that were deserving, but we were always told 0-10 don't get squat, if you want more win, well Warren did win this year and got some more players noticed. While I do have compassion for all the teams that did not get players recognized. From a long suffering Warrior fan, I am happy for our kids. Sorry, I do believe there should be a First team defense and offense by position, a Second team offense and defense and a catagory for specials (punters, place kickers, etc.) as well as honorable mention catagory for those that deserve recognition bu do not fall into the above. Remember I am just some dummy on the street that does not see a problem with recognizing more players. This may be all the accolades they ever receive and it would be something they would hold their head high and be proud of for many years beyond their high school years. Off the soap box now and congrats to all who did make the team and heartfelt condolences to all who deserved recognition and did not get a sniff of it. Can't wait for next August and football season.

There were a total of 45 players on this years teams.
29 1st team and 16 HM.
6 were QB's!
An all league team with a first and second team by position could have as many as:
12 on the first team offense
12 on the first team defense
12 on the second team offense
12 on the second team defense
For a total of 48 players, plus HM.
Some leagues who use a similiar format allow players to make the team on O & D.
Some leagues only name a player to one or the other.
I would guess that there would still be some complaints about a player being left out.
The biggest complaints would be 1st vs 2nd or HM.
There would be less weight to complaints.
I think a coach not being able to vote for his players is a good idea.
The format the SEOAL uses is not a true all league team.
It is overweight in recognition to the skilled players.

pappy1 must agree with you on the amount of skills players. The guys in the trenches seldom get recognition and do the grunt work. Maybe the SEOAL will hear and change someday before we die. Ya think?

Locos will put out his list soon. I like his approach because it lists by position.
