We're still working on it, but it looks like it can indeed happen.

Coal Grove's defense is kinda weak against the run. Lucas should put Frank Delawder at his natural position, linebacker. I think this would make a world of difference because he could shut down the run more effectively. They have him on the outside where he gets hooked most of the time and teams have a field day running the ball on CG. He should not be rushing the passer because most teams they play run the ball.

With your ties to Rock Hill football, I wouldn't be surprised if YOU were the one who put that sign up.
But that wouldn't be the craziest thing that's ever happened between these two teams. From what I've heard, there used to be police escorts into and out of the stadium.
I remember an car-egging incident that took place in the CG parking lot. And of course, there's always the occasional drunken idiot who gets hauled off after the game.

Heck, when we played your little league squad that one time, we were so fired up we were fighting OURSELVES!  8)

Let me tell some stories, I can remember a few times playing and before I was in high school playing at Rock Hill you were always told when leaving to put you bag in the window and your head between you knees because there would be bricks and everything else thrown at the bus, I remember back in 99 or 00 we played Rock Hill at home and a fight broke out down by the band, I know because my sister was in the band that year and when I saw parents from Rock Hills side starting to go over there I was up and ready to go, back in the 80's if I heard the story right, I really don't remember this, we were playing out at Rock Hill and during pregame some Rock Hill players jumped our boys while we were going through our pregame, and fuzz I have seen my share of egged cars and broken windows in my day as well, there is something about this game that brings out the emotion of both communities whether good or bad.

Fuzzy, from what I have heard at the OBDTF lunches, Turkey now charges 50 bucks to make an appearance and for a 100 bucks he will sign autographs and pose for pictures with the kids and some ladies............ 8) 8)

Your are correct, there was a Brew-Ha-Ha in '85, also there was a scuffle around '89 or '91 at Rock Hill. The incident about the band was true as well in '00. There was a tackle that "transpired" on lane 8 of the track into some band equipment on the Coal Grove sidelines.

Some memories as a Hillian.....

The Rock Hill victory in 1993 was sweet. Trailing Coal Grove 15-0 mid-way through the 3rd quarter, Rock Hill rolls off 26 unanswered (keyed by the Coal Grove punting game - 1 snap of Jay Lucas' Head, and the other was blocked). Rock Hill pulled off the upset 26-15.

Largest crowd I've ever witnessed was the 1995 matchup at Rock Hill. Coal Grove was 7-1 and Rock Hill was 8-0. Estimated 6-8,000 people standing room only. Coal Grove was lead by All-State running back Dusty Smith and Rock Hill was lead by All-State QB Brooks Fry. Rock Hill prevailed 27-14.

Biggest upset In the series would have to be a tie between the 1997 game and the 2006 games. In the 1997 game Rock Hill entered the game like 1-8 and Coal Grove was 8-1 and Rock Hill stunned them at home. I remember leaving that game not believing what I saw. In the 2006 game Rock Hill entered the game a heavy favorite and Coal Grove upset the Redmen at the Groveyard 21-0.

Strangest matchup had to be (not sure on the date) the 1991 matchup. There was an incidedent at Coal Grove in the days leading up to the game that lead to having barriers set up at each end of the field to essentially keep fans on their side of the field. It was like a vacation in Haiti :)

I don't know. . . I know he plays on the kickoff team in varsity. I noticed #59 got quite a bit of playing time against South Point on friday, as well.
I haven't been to a JV game all year. :(
