DV R19 Qtrs: Ridgewood (8-2) @ Lucasville Valley (10-0)

Post by 1darkhorse »

According to Joe's website this will be the matchup for next Friday. I don't know much about Ridgewood, but I do know that Valley's high powered offense is itching to get on the field already!

Ridgewood has come to Scioto county i think 4 times the past few years, they've got one win in those games. That year, Ridgewood had a VERY good running back for them. I don't believe they have anyone as good this year. Ridgewood has beaten a few good teams this year, and so has Valley. I don't really know anything about them other than that.

You can look on here to see how they have done up to week 9, as well as the rest of the teams in region 19 http://www.fantastic50.net/index.php?pr=Ohio_Region_19

Calpreps has Valley winning 26-24 but IMO all those numbers everyone puts together are thrown away as soon as the game starts. Anything can happen in the game of football

I said it on another thread, this is a tough matchup for valley, but its also winnable. Valley has the offense to play with any team in the region. It'll be a good one in lucasville.

Valley 27

Ridgewood 21

I really can't see Valley losing this one. Although I haven't seen Ridgewood play in a few years, I don't think there are many teams that can match up with the Indians. Valley by at least one score.

valley in a close game 28-20 this is playoffs so nothing to lose and everything to gain should be a good game Valley will jump out early though and ridgewood will score late and get 2 to make it look closer than it was.

Ridgewood's two losses were to very good teams but Valley is playing @ home and that's the edge. Valley 28 - Ridgewood 21

ridgewood played the burg a few years ago and ran the ball every play except maybe 2 plays, if valley has good run defense its in the bag.

How's Valley's kicking game? I couldn't help but notice they missed several XPs against Minford. Was it an anomaly, because of weather, or has missed XPs been a season long event? How is Valley's accuracy/distance at FGs? Any word on Ridgewood's kicking game?

Valleys kicker is a soph I believe, he seems to be nails on Turf, and shaky on grass....the 2 games on grass the conditions were pretty rough.

I'm interested in finding out some of Ridgewood's defensive strengths. They are gonna have to be very balanced against the run and the pass. Valley is physical and athletic. They throw it as well as they run it. In order to knock the Indians out, it is going to take a team that can apply pressure defensively without a breakdown in containment. It isn't very common to find D-5 defenses that can do that for four quarters. I truly believe the only thing that can slow Valley's offense, is Valley's offense with turnovers. If Valley doesn't turn the ball over, Ridgewood is gonna have to answer the bell on offense for four quarters and play mistake free themselves. I have no doubt that the Generals are gonna bring a VERY talented football team to Lucasville next Friday and I'm excited to see how it plays out!!

You're welcome buddy. If I didn't have to work I would be right there cheering you guys on. We have to support all of our local teams once they make the postseason. I will be listening on the radio though. Good luck!!
