best ironton running backs

I don't know who the best was, but the best backfield I saw at Ironton was Conwell and Brownstead...both punishing, bruising runners.

In 1981 Ironton had this backfield:

QB--Mark Snyder--Marshall
RB Jimmy Morris--Morehead
RB Mike Smith--Navy
FB Dennis Bacon--Syracuse

That is the best 4 running backs I ever saw play together at Ironton

I agree with 85 on those guys being the best at one time.
Dennis Bacon rarely played after halftime and still ended with over a 1,000 yards.

What can you say, unbelievably fast and had some great moves. One of the best to ever come out of Ironton. I wish I had some career stats on him.

man you guys have brought up some great ones , how about jeff kriebel, rick howard, terry mowery, rick, and rod boykin, bodie deeds was a tough one, no bigger than he was. juan thomas, are a few that come to mind. archie malone, is another. jared murphy, darrius, jermon, man , we have been blessed with running backs.

There has been a number of great running backs at Ironton. But the two players that stick out most in my mind are Dennis Bacon and Bobby Brice. I think Brice could have done anything he wanted out there. Bacon could score at will.

One thing in common with most of these backs are a couple of people...Bob Lutz and Mike Burcham...what would they have done without being well coached...some still would have been good...but how many would have been great?

Without a doubt Jermon Jackson. In 1992 down 14-0 at Portsmouth he single handledly put the Tigers on his back and helped them come back and win. Great moves, great speed. Too bad he didn't get more PT at OSU.
