Southeast District All-district Track Teams 2008

Coaches, the following athletes and coaches have been nominated for Southeast District AOY, COY, and as members of this year's all district team for Division II. The DIII and DI lists will follow. If you have not paid your dues for the year please do so at the banquet. Your dues must be paid for your athlete to receive recognition! the final list will be sent out the day after the banquet. Please proofread this list and email any corrections to me as soon as possible.

This year's banquet will be held at Ponderosa in Jackson on Wednesday June 11th at 6pm. Please RSVP with numbers if possible.

uhs_coach....Jade Strickland should be Oak Hill girls in Division III. That's Jordan Strickland for the Oak Hill boys. Both do the pole vault, though.

I didn't see Catie Wolfe of the Meigs girls on your list. She qualified for state in the 100 and 200 m Dashes. I know you can't do everything;) Thanks for all of your hard work putting this together.

There are people on here that did not make it to the state so I really do not understand the state qualifier qualification. This is so different from all the other sports. In the past there has been athletes that very well t hrough season went to reagional won league awards and ner made district list. It is a little odd the way they do it

OK, so where did these two end up in terms of the state finals? There's a kid from Fed Hock who did High Jump, Long Jump, Pole Vault, and ran a leg in one of the short relays, who ended up winning the state championship for the high jump.

Guess he didn't do enough, but we are all proud of him. Congratulations on being a state champion, Cory.

There are three ways to make it on the list.

1) If you win your district event, you are automatically on the list.
2) If you qualify to state, you are automatically on the list. (You can place 2-4th at a district meet and still make it to the state meet.)
3) If there is a deserving athlete that is injured at District and could not compete or, as an example, a state record holder in the Discus from a throw during the regular season but fouls all three of their prelims at the district meet, or for some other reason the coaches feel he/she belongs there, the coaches have the third method to honor those athletes.

And Steely Dan--while I don't know for sure about the details of how Athlete of the Year works in track--in these situations, sometimes the athlete is not nominated because the coach either does not attend the meeting and does not send in his name or the coach simply does not belong to the coaching organization.
