If you're talking about the SEOAL....my thought would be that some teams 6th runner better pony up. I hope it stops raining.

Mangus ran a near perfect race to win the Southern Hills League Championship as a freshman. The early leader ran the 1st mile in 5:02 and took several out but a few freshman of the SHL ran their races and I think the top 3 runners were all freshman....5 or 6 of the top 10.

Hannah Granger ran great to win on the girl's side.....she also was league champion as a freshman in 2007.

Yes, very similar to Piketon except footing was uneven in places. The SVC is pretty strong in CC right now. The weather was very similar to the Piketon Inv this year - cool temps with no wind. It was also measure per GPS at 3.11.

I read an article about the GPS being potentially very inaccurate for cross country courses. It said the dots are derived from satellite and to the nearest 15 meters for each dot and then it connects the dots in the end to gather a distance reading.

I'm not saying any course is right or wrong or anything.....but the article was interesting.

A GPS is not even close as using a caliberated wheel or steel tape.

Most runners like to compare performances run on different courses, and such comparisons are difficult if course distances are not reliable. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate. You use a wheel and meaure a little longer than 3.1 because all runners cut the corners or will take the shortest route possible.

A race course is defined by the shortest possible route that a runner could take and not be
disqualified. A given runner might not follow the shortest possible route, just as a runner on
a track may be forced to run further to pass another runner.

The bottom line use a wheel that is caliberated and double check if you want a true distance.
