This pretty much describes any team and every game. Win the LOS and win the turnover battle in high school, teams will win most of the time. Going to be tough though as valley has been stout up front thus far.
You are exactly right, the game is won and lost up front. I don’t care how good a back or QB you have if it’s not getting done up front there’s no time to pass and no place to run. Justin Zewick fell prey to this very thing his senior year, had terrible line play and was running for his life his entire senior season, developed a lot of bad habits from it. We all talk about the skilled guys but without the big men up front it doesn’t work. Parker had a good line last year and rushed for 2,500+ and his 1st game this year breaking in the new line goes for 22 against Valley, just a year after he ran wild against them.
I don’t know the exact numbers, but Piketon couldn’t afford turnovers and they did. Piketons defense was pretty strong most of the night, but the offense kept them on the field too much. Andronis for Valley is elusive, decent arm, but the big guys up front won the battle, not dominating but definitely won. Piketons first TD called back on holding took some air out of the Streaks, I think the refs must of have had a contest of who could throw the most, both ways! Lol. Fun game to watch until the stinking storm hit!
The biggest takeaway for me is Piketon didn’t quit, they kept grinding and fighting back, that is big for this young Streaks team!
I honestly thought this game would be worse. If we’re looking at the positives it’s something to build off of going into league play. Glad to see the kids fighting all the way through.
