Amen brother! Should have kept Diehl. Did him wrong. I guess turn about is fair play. Hope a coach is found soon for the kids sake.
When is the deadline to apply? Wonder what the timeline is for the hiring. Any coaches on last years staff interested? How many coaches have they been through the past 5-6 years?
Hire Netter and get some stability in the program.
Looked on the OHSAA web site they only won 1 game last year. Wonder on how many have applied.A guy I know son has applied. Graduated from Wheelersburg and played ball at Mount Union. Finishing up internship in strength and conditioning at University of Costal Carolina.
They’ve had 4 different head coaches recently.
Coy - 1 season
Diehl - 3 seasons
Wax - 1 season
Black - 3 seasons (I think)
diehl was one season
my son played for Diehl - he was there a long time and head coach for 3 years.
I work with Diehl and you are correct it was 3yrs as head coach. He went 7-3 I believe his second season. Should have never let him go. Really cared about the kids, and was full of Panther pride.
Well today is the dead line. Wonder when interviews will begin or do they already have their man for the job.
Sounds like SE is more worried about finding a bball coach - makes sense for that school.
I say bring Diehl back - period - search over.
Right on!
Any word on interviews…what kind of talent n numbers do they return
nickel back… is Netter an applicant? I assume you are speaking of the SE alum Brian Netter? I know he has been doing a lot of coaching down in Athens (football, basketball, track). He has a passion to help the kids. SE could use a familiar face who would actually stick around and watch a program grow!
Have heard 4 will be interviewed and a decision will come rather quickly
well any word on who got interviewed or have they already hired their man.
interviewed last week and admin/interview panel made selection - not sure if accepted yet or waiting to announce one school board approves. Didn’t select a SE person and many applicants didn’t get interviewed that have roots, experience at SE. If selected coach accepts, he will do fine I am sure for the year or 2 he sticks around. Hope they hurry up so the team can move forward and get started. Behind the 8 ball as it is.
Word on the street is Evan Gallagher got the job. I think he was an assistant at Paint Valley. I heard there were 2-3 alumni that applied for the job. SE skipped on them again opting to look outside the family for a coach. Hasn’t worked in the past…good luck to the Panthers
It is beyond me on a schools selection on a coach. Not insulting any of the people who applied but why would a school go after a coach from another school who has only had really one winning record since 2004. The one year Paint Valley went 8-2 they only beat two teams with above 500 record in which those teams were 6-4. Since 2004 Paint Valley is 38-51-1. If I was trying to build a program
wouldn’t you go for an assistant from a winning program. It seems to be the norm with schools getting a coach look at Gallipolis they got the coach from Huntington Ross who hasn’t coached that long
and what was his best record 5-5. Maybe it is really about the money. The schools figure they can save some money by getting someone with a little less winning experience that way if they don’t work out they didn’t lose that much on them. And if they produce a winning season good investment.
I heard Evan was the front runner as well. I wish him nothing but the best, however I don’t know if Jim Tressel could win with the talent at Southeastern. :aaaaa22
