The saying is to be the champ you have to beat the champ
And Burg has the keys to the caddy
Waverly, oak Hill, Minford will be tough games rest of the league can step up any game exciting league for sure with a lot of talented players and strong teams
Money on the BURG. Good sure bet.
Depth & Coaching in my opinion is the key. I know how obvious that sounds but lets get real. The reason for the majority of the better talent in SOCII hasn’t been from the “High School” coaches. A lot of the better talent in SOCII outweighs the coaching abilities of the majority of the coaches. It’s obvious that Burg has the most depth and they seem to be the only ones living in the now to hire an individual/individuals knowledgeable enough to lead such talent.
The rich get richer
Looks like the gap between Burg and everyone else just got a little bigger!
You got it Redsfan.
With the exception of South Webster hiring A. Messer, Burg and their powers that be are obviously the only ones that get the fact that you need a coach that lives in today’s softball world. The game has evolved so much just in the last 10 years that the majority of our areas best talent are just using the high school season as a warm-up for what they will be playing during the summer. Your best coaches are the one’s who continued to play COMPETITIVELY through a big part of their adult lives and who coach in today’s COMPETITIVE travel softball world. They’ve evolved with the game and the minds of these players. You put a coach like that with the depth of Waverly, Oak Hill, Minford or Northwest, the difference would be astronomical. We’ve already seen the difference in South Webster. If our area schools and their powers that be truly want the best for there respected programs, they need to wake up and start living in today’s softball world. Again, the ability and knowledge of the game that a lot of our areas best talent possesses exceeds the coaching ability.
Who still plays competitive fastpitch as an adult? As far as I know there are no fastpitch leagues or what I’d consider competitive slo pitch leagues either?
I think Minford coach has a pretty good track record, get a clue please, HS coaching in this area is not as bad as you make it out to be
Soc2 : plenty of talented players with many qualified coaches, should be a fun season
I think we’re all obviously pretty much in agreement that our area has plenty of talent, Ptown. Get a clue?
Your fervent misguided sense of coaching is stunning. ![]()
Here’s a question for ya Ptown.
Outside of Burg, in SOC ll, with all of our talent, how many District Titles in the last 12 years?
Not sure about going back 12 years but there were two last year besides burg. Valley and Waverly both won districts.
I know Portsmouth West won one a 2 or 3 years ago because they played Wheelersburg in the regional…McKenzie Whitaker was their pitcher…
District Winners for Last 12 Years. Might have missed some but this is what I found.
Wheelersburg
2007,2008,2009,2014,2015,2016,2017,2018
West
2008,2012,2015
Valley
2010,2011,2012,2018
Waverly
2018
Line drive: I’m secure with my playing and coaching resume as well as my sense of coaching and I don’t keep track of district titles …My district titles plaques are in my dads attic collecting dust
Thanks for the info SOSoftball & SoftballAlways.
Ptown: Wasn’t questioning “your” playing ability nor “your” coaching ability but…ok. The subject that you and I were discussing, well, that I was talking about, was the level of coaching vs the level of talent in our area.
The majority of our talent outweighs the “in-game” knowledge of the majority of coaches.
2 or 3 is NOT the majority.
Thanks again SOSoftball & SoftballAlways for providing that info.
Just as an FYI since SOC 1 includes local schools also below is their information for same time period.

Thanks SOSoftball. Always nice to see the #s.
We are handling our own very well in D4 come tournament time but definitely struggling in D3 outside of Burg.
Will be a battle for second. Burg LOADED…
i will definitely have make it up to watch a few burg games. they were loaded before hughes transfer. that was huge. how far will they go this year
I don’t see how Wheelersburg doesn’t make a run at another state title with the talent and depth that they have, can’t image too many teams with more talent at the D3 level or probably any level
