Re: PDT Coverage

in the 2 years i worked there I dont recall a single friday night we got all the games covered. And. as I said, they're clearly down right now so you have 2 choices. Give them some time to learn, they are new, or apply for a job and do better yourselves. Or whine and complain. Give 'em a break is al...

Re: PDT Coverage

Whether you think it or not, the pdt is a legit newspaper. That means they have standards that don't allow them to let a little high schooler do a write up on his own school or let someone with little to no experience take photos and then put those things in print. Things are down, fair enough. But ...

Re: PDT Coverage

Are you guys actually demanding the PDT cover EVERY GAME? They have a 3 or maybe 4 man staff. One guy has to stay at the office to do the layout and take calls. That means they can cover three games max, maybe 4 if they get a good stringer. The PDT covers a bunch of teams so not everyone can be cove...

Re: PDT Coverage

I've only met the PDT Sports Editor once or twice but I think he's trying his butt off. Here's something you should know. A year ago today, the PDT Sports Staff was Editor Jeff Taepke, Josh Hickle, me (John Stegeman) and part time Bret Bevens. Within a couple months, Jeff and I left left. Fortunatel...

Re: Ugh . . . one of SE Ohio's best gets in trouble

One, the PDT is a local paper. I imagine on the state and nation pages inside you can find some war or election coverage. Also wasn't there just a story about AJ Prat, a local guy making it as a college coach in there. Ok the Dispatch is better but thats like comparing the Columbus Clippers to the Y...

Re: Ugh . . . one of SE Ohio's best gets in trouble

So the kids should get scholarships, media attention, on-the-side perks, public adulation and more when they do well but no one should report when they break the law? The trade off of being a NCAA D1 athlete at a high profile school is media attention and you need to take the good with the bad. As f...

Re: Ugh . . . one of SE Ohio's best gets in trouble

the PDT essentially used the AP/ESPN story and stuck a few local facts in it. Want someone to blame, blame ESPN.....or you know maybe the kids. God forbid these days anyones boy be held accountable. This "I knew him and he wouldn't do that crap" is crap itself. I've had a lot of good frien...

Re: Ironton Out Of SEOAL?

I have to admit I only read one page of this lengthy discussion and I hope someone else has said this. Who cares about what happened in the past. If anyone really cared about the best interest of kids, then Portsmouth and maybe even Ironton could be in the SOC. Really, there is no reason to keep the...

Re: South Webster vs. New Boston D 4 District Championship

South Webster 64-38 over New Boston.

Cook scored 1,000 with 20 seconds left according to the radio. She had a game high 24. Cayton scored 22.

New Boston was led by Wiley with 10 points.

refs

Before a tourney game at waverly i had a ref tell me, "Im not calling anything. They've made it this far so I just let them play"

But I agree to much of that can be a bad thing, more than anything you dont want kids getting hurt

game on

the Jeeps no doubt have an advantage but New Boston is a scrappy team and is very good defensively.

Wiley is their main scorer but they have several good defenders.

independent

Here is a thought. I don't know about Northwest in paticular, but there are plenty of chances for tiny schools from this region to pick up wins over crappy higher division schools. There are D1 and DII schools in Cincinnati that haven't won four games over the last three years, Cincinnati Western Hi...

good kid

I've known Chris Jr. for a couple years. He's a very smart kid with a great work ethic. He takes a full class load at SSU, is the editor of the school paper, and has a job most of the year along with coaching the freshmen the last couple seasons.

He can do this.

I'm heard some people at SSU saying that they had the all area coaches meeting with the paper last week. Not sure when it comes out
