Re: An SOC/OVC merger would produce some dandies
I liked the idea that was floated around last year about seeing if Chillicothe, Ironton, Gallia Academy, Portsmouth and Jackson would come together and form a seperate division of the SOC. None of which are currently in the SOC. So why does the SOC need to create a division for them? Why can't they...

Re: SOC Schedules, Results, and Standings 2010-11
You had the Northwest and Clay score correct, but the standings are incorrect. Northwest should be 1-0 and Clay should be 0-1.

Why? NW beat Waverly by about the same margin the first time they played.

Re: Consolidation in Scioto Co.
If there was any consolidation in Pike County I would say Waverly/Eastern and Piketon/Western. I don't know if you remember this, or even heard this, but before all these schools got new facilities, there was actually some very preliminary talk (probably more of a rumor) of Piketon, Eastern, and We...

Re: Blake Justice
what southeastern league is good according to you? the shl has sent four teams to the final four, how many other southeastern leagues have done this?
SOC2 has sent 3 teams to state on 5 different occasions in the past 5-6 years, and 2 of them won it all.

Re: SOC scores / standings
Any details on the Northwest game? Sounds like they played one heck of a game!
NW held a 1-0 halftime lead. Burg tied it up about 10 minutes into second half. NW came right back and took a 2-1 lead a few minutes later. Gave up the last two goals in the final 10 minutes or so.

Re: small schools that have consolidated?
Eastern High School in Pike County was formed when Beaver High School and Stockdale High School consolidated. I believe it was around 1961.
In Scioto County, Northwest High School was formed from the McDermott, Otway, and Rarden school districts in 1959.

Re: History of pike.co
Pike lived in the Cincinnati area when he was young, and was stationed in Ohio as a young soldier. His job then was to supply frontier posts in Ohio (possibly could have been to Pike County then)(Pike also claimed to participate in the Battle of Fallen Timbers but there is no record of this). Pike w...

Yeah, I bumped into him here a while back at an OSU game and he told me he was at Peebles. He was still at NG when we moved in '90 but wasn't sure how long he stayed.

Wow, haven't heard some of these names in a long time. I can remember running around as a bat boy when Casey played pony league for my dad. I was young, but I remember they were a pretty good club.

Re: Portsmouth Daily Times...Commits Another Foul
We DO NOT need featured stories on Waverly, Eastern or Western in the PDT unless they are playing one of the teams FROM Scotio county. I agree the game should have been covered, but not with this statement. First, why only the Pike Co. schools? Why not Oak Hill and Symmes Valley? Second, you may no...
